Ghost Story: Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre to Host 15th Anniversary Event

The Prince William County Office of Historic Preservation and Prince William County Parks & Recreation will host a special event at the Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre. The event marks the 15th anniversary of the Centre’s appearance on an episode of the television show Ghost Hunters.

The event will occur at the Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre, 12229 Bristow Road, Bristow. The evening begins with a free screening of the “Ghost Hunters” episode from 7 to 8 PM. Following the screening, there will be a ghost tour from 8 to 9 p.m. The tour costs $15 per person, and advance tickets are recommended. Tickets will be available starting August 6th at pwcparks.info/hptickets.

Flood Watch in Effect for Stafford County Until 11 p.m.

A flood watch is in effect for Stafford County and surrounding areas from 5 to 11 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued the watch due to the potential for flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

The flood watch covers parts of central, northern, northwest, and western Virginia, including Albemarle, Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Greene, Orange, Spotsylvania, Culpeper, Southern Fauquier, Madison, Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, Page, Rappahannock, Augusta, and Rockingham.

Assignments May Be Weeks Late: City School Board to Vote on Amended Grading Scale

The Manassas School Board will vote tonight on amending the 2024-2025 school year grading scale.

OmniRide Changes: Fares Increasing, Routes Discontinued

OmniRide will implement a service change on Monday, July 29, 2o24, which includes schedule adjustments, fare increases, and route alterations.

Notable changes include the combination and elimination of some routes, the introduction of new timetables, and updated routing for various Express, Metro Express, and Local routes. The OmniRide Express base fare also increased from $9 to $11 each way. (more…)

Police Report: Fatal Hit and Run | Shootings in Stafford, Woodbridge

Updated 3:50 p.m. — Here are the latest police reports from around the area.

Felony Hit & Run – On July 20 at 6:53PM, officers responded to the Oasis at Montclair Apartment complex located in the 16400 block of Stedham Cl. in Dumfries (22025) to investigate a hit and run crash. The investigation revealed the victim, a 37-year-old man, was approached by an unknown individual while he was outside of his vehicle. At one point during the encounter, the suspect got into the victim’s vehicle, a gold Lexus SUV, and began to drive in reverse. The victim grabbed onto the vehicle before the SUV struck a separate unoccupied vehicle before moving forward. As the SUV continued forward, the victim was thrown off and subsequently run over. The suspect drove the stolen SUV out of the area prior to police arriving on the scene. The victim was treated at an area hospital for life-threatening injuries. The investigation continues as detectives attempt to identify and locate the suspect.
