“It’s an incredible honor to lead the department where I began my career more than three decades ago,” said Carroll. “Public Safety Communications is built on teamwork, trust and service to our community. National Museum of the Marine Corps to Celebrate 250 Years of the Corps Despite Federal Shutdown

“Although the Museum and its galleries remain closed to the public due to the ongoing Federal Government shutdown, we will open our doors from 9 am to 5 pm on Monday, November 10 to commemorate the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps,” the National Museum of the Marine Corps announced. “Traditional cake cutting ceremonies and other special activities will honor Marines, veterans, families, and supporters.”

The celebration, supported by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, will include cake-cutting ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Leatherneck Gallery, special openings of the Museum Store, Tun Tavern, Devil Dog Diner, and Medal of Honor Theater, as well as commemorative coin sales and free 250th Challenge Coin giveaways.

Motorcyclist killed in Bristow crash during police speed enforcement

A 19-year-old Manassas man died Thursday night after his motorcycle collided with a car at a busy Bristow intersection, Prince William County Police said.

Officers responded just before 8 p.m. on November 1 to the area of Linton Hall Road and Nokesville Road. According to police, an officer was conducting speed enforcement nearby when he saw a 2004 Kawasaki ZX-6R traveling southbound at a high speed on Nokesville Road. As the officer activated his emergency lights, the motorcyclist turned off his headlights and sped off toward Linton Hall Road.

New red light camera warning period begins at busy Manassas intersection

Starting today, November 1, 2025, drivers traveling through the intersection of Liberia Avenue and Mathis Avenue in Manassas will enter a 30-day warning period for a new photo red light enforcement camera.

The city says traffic safety studies have shown this intersection has a high number of violations and crashes, making it a suitable location for red light camera enforcement. Once the warning period ends on December 1, violators caught running red lights will receive a $50 civil penalty, mailed to the vehicle’s registered owner. These fines don’t add points to a driver’s license or affect insurance rates, according to the Manassas City Police Department.

Stafford supervisor candidate has $77M lawsuit against county sheriff, deputies

“Mr. Robertson was shot and killed despite no body camera video from any of the five sheriff’s deputies on the scene showing that Mr. Robertson ever pointed a weapon at them or anyone else,” Fredericksburg Free Press reported. “Later, Ferrell could be heard over a police radio, saying, ‘When he opens the door, I’m taking the shot.’ Then he fired the fatal shot, the lawsuit says, and Robertson died.”

Kelly Robertson, an independent candidate for Stafford County’s Hartwood District, and her family filed a $77.4 million wrongful death lawsuit alleging that sheriff’s deputy Dominic Ferrell fatally shot her father, 71-year-old Navy veteran Michael Robertson Sr., during a welfare check in December 2023.

Free flu shots offered at Metz Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025

Flu vaccines will be available for free this Saturday, November 1, at Metz Middle School in Manassas. The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 9950 Wellington Road, and no appointment is necessary.

The event is open to anyone age three and older. Organizers will also offer $100 gift card giveaways throughout the day.
