A teenager thought to have been shot actually suffered a pistol-whipping in Woodbridge.
Just after 7 p.m. Monday, February 7, a 17-year-old was taken to a local hospital after someone struck the teen with a gun. The blow caused the teen to lose consciousness, leading police to think he had been shot.
Now authorities charge he misused the plate and possessed prescription drugs.

Virginia lawmakers blocked legislation that would allow school boards to opt out from policies and guidelines developed by the Virginia Department of Education to make K-12 environments more inclusive for transgender and nonbinary students.
Committee votes for the similar House and Senate measures mostly came down to party lines. The Senate bill was defeated 8-5 in committee. The House bill was approved by a subcommittee vote, but in committee the bill’s passage was deadlocked 11-11 when one Republican voted against the measure.

800 acres: Data center development company QTS Realty Trust, Inc. is “seeking to acquire” 800 acres of land within the proposed “PW Digital Gateway,” according to a QTS spokesman and Prince William County officials. [Prince William Times]

Mohammad Bashir Kahn, 83, succumbed to his injuries on February 6. Firefighters pulled Khan from a burning home in the 4000 block of Montega Drive, near the Prince William County Government Center in Woodbridge, on February 1.
Rescue crews took Khan to Washington Hospital Center after he suffered severe burns.
A masked man robbed a couple at gunpoint in Woodbridge.
On Monday, February 7 at 12:48 a.m., officers responded to the 13900 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge, across from Todos Supermarket in Marumsco Plaza, to investigate a robbery. A 28-year-old man told police that he and a woman were sitting in a vehicle in a parking lot when a masked man approached and brandished a firearm.
A 22-year-old man involved in an argument with the suspect and an innocent 32-year-old bystander was shot in while in the parking lot.
After the release of surveillance footage and images of the suspect from the altercation, detectives received tips that ultimately led to the suspect’s identity.
