A wanted man crashed a church service Saturday night in Stafford County.

On Saturday, June 11at 7:39 p.m. Deputy D.S. Jett went to a shopping center at 367 Warrenton Road after the 911 center had received a tip that a wanted man from Spotsylvania County was at a beauty shop. The caller told police the man would run and hide.

The Lynchburg Hillcats scored two runs in the top of the 9th inning to rally and beat the FredNats 6-4 in the series finale at Virginia Credit Union Stadium. Jacob Young had two hits and two RBIs, T.J. White had an RBI triple, and the FredNats still take five out of seven games in the series from the Hillcats.

Lynchburg scored the first two runs of the game in the 5th off FredNat starter Bryan Caceres after a home run and two doubles. Overall, Caceres had a good day, pitching five innings and allowing five hits, two earned runs and he struck out three.

A new Commanders football stadium in Virginia seemed like a sure thing last month. Today, a public-private deal to build a stadium and practice facility in the commonwealth is all but dead.

As you know, the Horner Road Commuter Lot in Woodbridge is one of the sites considered for a stadium and practice facility. Some local leaders salivated over the prospect of $24 billion in economic impact for the county, while others fear the crime and traffic a new stadium complex would bring.

The Virginia Legislature won’t be committing public funds to a new Washington Commanders Stadium in Woodbridge this year.

The event drew dozens of friends, family, and Marines to honor both Pasagian and Walsh for their years of service. Lieutenant General Karsten S. Heckl, commanding general, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, and the Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration, provided opening remarks.

Heckl. “I know firsthand how much effort you put into ensuring our command is on track with our Marines. You had the intelligence and communication capabilities needed to make an expeditionary force. Dr. Daniel Hornick has been selected as the new Superintendent of Orange County Public Schools, effective July 1, 2022. Hornick has led the team of North Stafford High School as principal for five years.

“I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity, and thank the family at North Nation for their steadfast support over the past several years,” said Hornick. “The educators, students, and families I have worked with are exceptional, and I have great respect for this incredible team.”

Before the skies opened and postponed the second game of the doubleheader to Thursday, the FredNats and Hillcats got the first game in with the FredNats taking a 7-5 win. T.J. White hit two home runs and drove in four runs, and the FredNats held the Hillcats to four hits on the mound.

After Lynchburg’s Jake Fox hit a solo home run on the second pitch of the game, the FredNats scored two in the bottom of 1st to take a lead they would never relinquish. With runners on the corners, Jeremy De La Rosa stole second, and Viandel Peña scored from third when the throw went to second base. Leandro Emiliani then drove in De La Rosa with a single to make it 2-1.
