Police are searching for a Fredericksburg man who they say ignored commands to stop his car, drove off, and grazed two officers.

On Thursday, October 13, at 12:44 a.m., police were on patrol in the area of Kilmer Lane and Jurgensen Drive in Triangle when they saw two men inside a suspicious car.

Virginia’s 7th District congressional candidates will debate on October 21, a matchup of Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger and Republican challenger Yesli Vega.

The debate will occur at Gar-Field Senior High School, 1400 Smoketown Road in Woodbridge, at 7 p.m. The exchange is sponsored by the Prince William Committee of 100. The organizer has yet to announce a moderator.

Stafford County Public Schools held the inaugural Chart Your Future Expo on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center. 

The event hosted more than 1,500 seniors and post-graduate students from all five high schools in Stafford County, the Phoenix Center, Project SEARCH, as well as the school system’s separate public and private day schools.

According to an email from the Prince William County Office of Elections, obtained by Potomac Local News, the county had used a cloud-based Web interface called PollChief developed by tech firm Konnech that manages election officer data. Under our contract, the company’s data servers were stated to be in the U.S., in Michigan and California.

Konnech Corporation CEO Eugene Yu was taken into custody Tuesday, October 4, following an investigation by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office on suspicion of theft of personal identifying information. Instead of housing data in the U.S., investigators believe it was sent to China.

On Monday, October 10 at 1:31 a.m., officers responded to the Shell service station located at 17250 Dumfries Road to investigate a suspicious vehicle.

When officers arrived, they approached the vehicle and saw the driver sleeping while exposing himself. Officers made contact with the driver and detained him.

This morning elected officials broke ground on a 113,490 square foot last-mile distribution and fulfillment facility in North Woodbridge.

The 95 East Distribution Center at 13600 Dabney Road, is the first development project in Prince William County’s new E-Commerce Overlay and represents a $22.95 million redevelopment investment as well as an estimated 100 new jobs in supply chain logistics.

On Monday, October 10, at 11:25 p.m., officers were called to the 14100 block of Richmond Highway, near a Pep Boys store in Woodbridge, to investigate a death. Police got third-party information about the possibility of a body in the woods.

Police checked the area but came up empty. However, they continued to look at other locations nearby and encountered an individual who directed them to a shed behind a business, where they found a man’s body and drug paraphernalia.

Construction of eight bridges along Interstate 95 will lead to full traffic stops on both I-95 northbound and southbound between midnight and 3 a.m. this week in the Fredericksburg area.

Drivers with destinations outside the Fredericksburg area should consider an alternate route to avoid major delays, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
