[Updated 10 a.m.] A Burke man is facing charges after an overnight barricade in Stafford County.
A man went into a home in the Garrison Woods Apartments off Onville Road in North Stafford about 11 p.m. Sunday, February 13. The man assaulted a woman, her daughter, and a dog, said a sheriff’s office spokesman.
[Updated] Police pulled a body from the Occoquan Reservoir.
The body is that of an unidentified woman, police said. There are no signs of foul play, they add.

Marie Eleanor Ferraro, 89, of Uniopolis, OH, died 6:35 p.m., Wed. Jan. 26, 2022, at The Acres of Wapakoneta, with her family at her side.
She was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late James & Henrietta (Esponita) Scarpati. On Sept. 12, 1953, she married Richard James Ferraro, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 2009.
According to police, a 14-year-old boy suffered a mental health crisis on school grounds on Friday, February 4. During the encounter, school staff, including a teacher, temporarily restrained the student in an attempt to keep him from harming himself or others, police said,
After being released, the teacher, identified as the accused, spat on the student before the parties separated. The incident reportedly took place in a classroom during school hours, police said.
At 1:34 a.m., fire and rescue crews went to the 5000 block of Burnside Farm Place near Haymarket for a reported house fire.
Crews arrived and saw flames shooting fire through a roof of a home. Three occupants had been sleeping and awakened by smoke detectors. They were able to escape their home safely and then called 9-1-1, a fire and rescue spokesman said.
A Stafford man has been indicted and arrested after the drowning death of his three-year-old son.

(The Center Square) – The Virginia Senate narrowly passed legislation that requires schools to notify parents of sexually explicit material in the coursework and allow parents to opt their children out of such assignments.
Senate Bill 656, sponsored by Sen. Siobhan Dunnavant, R-Henrico, passed the chamber 20-18 with support from Republican leadership and a handful of Democrats. The legislation will now head to the House, which has a Republican majority. Gov. Glenn Youngkin strongly supports the legislation.
