“Travelers on Parkway Boulevard in the Park Ridge neighborhood will encounter periodic single lane closures from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. over the next two weeks,” Stafford County Government announced. “Closures are scheduled Monday, Oct. 27 through Friday, Oct. 31, and again Monday, Nov. 3 through Friday, Nov. 7.”

The county advised drivers to plan for potential delays and use caution when traveling through the work zone during these maintenance periods.


“All lanes of Route 1 in Stafford County have reopened at Acadia Street,” Virginia Department of Transportation – Fredericksburg District announced.

The reopening follows an earlier vehicle crash that brought down utility lines and closed the southbound lanes Monday. Traffic is now moving normally in both directions.


“Stafford County, with the Board of Supervisors’ support, has made improving transportation for residents a top priority,” the County Government announced. “This year, the County is investing $70 million in road improvement projects across the community to enhance roadway safety, improve accessibility, and reduce congestion.”

 


“The City of Fredericksburg invites residents and business owners to attend a public meeting on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 601 Caroline Street,” the City of Fredericksburg announced.

“This community meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to share feedback on the ongoing Downtown Traffic Engineering Study, which aims to improve safety, traffic flow, and accessibility throughout the downtown area.”


“Bridge washing will require alternating lane closures along I-95 northbound and southbound between Exit 110 (Ladysmith) and Exit 118 (Thornburg),” Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced. “Work is scheduled Sunday through Saturday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., at the bridge over the Matta River.”

“Additional bridge washing will take place between Exit 130 (Route 3) and Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton), with alternating lane closures in both local and through lanes at the I-95 bridges over the Rappahannock River,” VDOT stated.


Fredericksburg’s plan to convert several downtown one-way streets into two-way traffic—and add new bike lanes and pedestrian upgrades—now carries an estimated $7.7 million price tag, according to new engineering data presented to the city’s Planning Commission on October 22.

“All lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound are closed at Southpoint Parkway due to a vehicle crash,” Virginia Department of Transportation Fredericksburg District (VaDOTFRED) announced. “Travelers should avoid the area and seek alternate routes.”

The crash occurred near the intersection of Route 1 and Spotsylvania Parkway, just south of the I-95 Exit 126 interchange. Travel delays are currently about one mile, and Interstate 95 is recommended as an alternate route for north-south travel.


Commuters in Manassas Park now have more parking options, thanks to a new 740-space garage at the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) station. Officials gathered Tuesday, October 21, to celebrate the grand opening of the garage, which supports both VRE riders and the city’s growing Park Central downtown.

Of the total spaces, 540 are designated for VRE commuters and visitors to Park Central — a recently revitalized mixed-use development that includes a new City Hall and library. The $35.2 million project was funded by multiple regional partners and responds to increasing demand identified in a 2017 VRE study.


– An additional day of work is needed to complete a scheduled bridge inspection of Falmouth Bridge. Travelers can expect brief delays on Route 1 northbound between the City of Fredericksburg and Stafford County at Falmouth Bridge on Wednesday, Oct. 22, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Route 1 northbound will be reduced to a single lane on the bridge during the inspection period.


Fredericksburg’s long-discussed proposal to convert several downtown one-way streets into two-way traffic will take another step forward next week when the city’s Planning Commission reviews the final version of the Downtown Traffic Engineering Study.
