Stafford County leaders are tired of hearing complaints from residents who say they’re not being served by private trash haulter GFL.

The Canadian firm recently purchased multiple trash-hauling companies in the Fredericksburg region. Last year, after it purchased Spotsylvania-based County Waste, Stafford leaders were inundated with complaint phone calls and emails. Many residents said they could not reach the company to have questions answered or complain.

A new Chick-fil-A restaurant in North Stafford will be one of the chain’s most extensive and updated models.

The restaurant will feature a dining room, a kitchen in the center, and a larger meal preparation area. Outside, drivers can use two of three lanes to pick up food from a window.

North Stafford could soon have its second Chick-fil-A restaurant.

The Board of County Supervisors on Tuesday, January 17, will hear a case requesting it to amend land use proffers to allow a fast-food restaurant to be built on a two-acre property near Garrisonville and Shelton Shop roads near a 7-Eleven and CVS Pharmacy.

Pamela Yeung will serve as Stafford Board of Supervisors Chairman for 2023.

Yeung, first elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2021,  is the first black person to hold the job in Stafford County. Her peers on the Board of Supervisors voted her into the position after five rounds of voting.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors approved an Emergency Ordinance to temporarily eliminate penalties for tax bills paid by December 20, 2022.

This provides our citizens a little more time to pay their 2022 second-half Real Estate and Personal Property tax bills. Residents will now have until December 20, 2022, to pay these taxes normally due December 5, without incurring penalties.
