The National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators has designated Kerrydale Elementary in Prince William County and Bayside Sixth Grade Campus School in Virginia Beach as National ESEA Distinguished Schools for 2022-2023.

Kerrydale Elementary was selected for closing achievement gaps between student groups. The school serves a population of 333 students. Of these students, 12.6% receive special education services, 66% are economically disadvantaged, and 53% are English language learners.

Central Rappahannock Regional Library continues to distribute free at-home rapid COVID-19 test kits in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health.

Customers can pick up test kits through curbside pickup at most library branches during open hours. Kits are unavailable at Towne Centre Branch, Fried Center, or IdeaSpace.

A man knocked on a door at a Woodbridge home and asked to be let in. He didn’t like the answer he received from the homeowner.

On Monday, December 19, at 4:45 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 3000 block of Chinkapin Oak Lane, Georgetown Village, just off Route 1 in Woodbridge, to investigate a possible attempted burglary.

Police said an 18-year-old tried to flee the scene of a traffic stop and struck an officer’s arm with his car.

On Tuesday, December 20, at 9:20 p.m., a Prince William County police officer conducted a vehicle stop on a blue 2008 Mercedes SC400 in the area of Dale Boulevard and Forestdale Avenue in Dale City.

On Tuesday, December 20, at 10:43 p.m., Prince William police were called to a crash in the 8400 block of Sudley Road Manassas to investigate a single-vehicle crash near Manassas Mall.

The driver of a 2014 Honda Civic was traveling at a high rate of speed east on Sudley Road, approaching Rixlew Lane, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb.
