Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative and the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives offer college, vocational, and trade school scholarships to public, private, and home-schooled high school seniors whose families receive electricity from electric cooperatives. Students may apply to both scholarship programs.

NOVEC and VMDAEC will send scholarship funds directly to recipients' chosen educational institutions for help with tuition, room and board, student fees, or book purchasing.

North Stafford could soon have its second Chick-fil-A restaurant.

The Board of County Supervisors on Tuesday, January 17, will hear a case requesting it to amend land use proffers to allow a fast-food restaurant to be built on a two-acre property near Garrisonville and Shelton Shop roads near a 7-Eleven and CVS Pharmacy.

Prince William County officials will take up the case of Kline Farm on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

It's a rezoning of the old Kline dairy farm at the corner of Prince William Parkway and Liberia Avenue near Manassas. Developer Stanley Martin Homes aims to build  240 townhomes, a drive-in pharmacy, a fast-food restaurant, and a storage facility.

Prince William Delta Chapter

The Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (PWCAC-DST), in affiliation with the Delta Research and Educational Foundation, will host its 33rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Oratorical Competition and Program on Monday, January 16 at 11 a.m. on its YouTube channel. This is a free virtual event.

This year's theme, "A View of the Promised Land," inspired Prince William area students in grades 6-12 to write and present their views on the life and impact of Dr. King's legacy. The January 16 program will not only showcase six dynamic student orators from Prince William County and Manassas Park it will also feature the MLK Community Choir, students K-12.

The audience will also have an opportunity to vote for their favorite middle school and high school orator using a special text-to-vote feature while watching the program.

A crash on Interstate 95 north in Stafford County created five miles of delays.

The crash occurred about 10:45 a.m. in Stafford County, at milepost 134, north of exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton), for a multi-vehicle crash involving a large truck.

Drivers south of the crash site are sitting in about five miles of congestion as of 11:50 a.m. We'll post more about this crash when we have it.

A roadside pine tree near the Stafford Regional Airport had been an unofficial roadside Christmastime staple.

For more than five years, residents adorned the tree with decorations each holiday season. However, that tradition ended shortly after Christmas 2022 when the Virginia Department of Transportation cut down the tree at Centreport Parkway and Mountain View Road.

The organization aims to provide reliable healthcare services. They rang in the New Year and were welcomed by the county with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 2, 2023. The office opens to the public on Monday, January 16, 2023.
