Some Prince William County residents in the Dale City area are learning about a new natural gas pipeline that could be laid near their homes.
According to project documents, New York-based Opal Fuels is considering laying a seven-mile pipeline from the county’s landfill on Route 234 along a powerline easement that cuts through the Hillendale, Mapledale, and Princedale neighborhoods in Dale City, to the county government center at 1 County Complex Court, off Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge.
On Thursday, January 5, at 10:18 a.m., officers responded to Fannie Fitzgerald Elementary School, located at 15500 Benita Fitzgerald Drive in Dale City, to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed on Wednesday, January 4, during class, an eight-year-old male student was struck by his teacher, identified as the accused.
The student reported the incident to a family member, who notified the school the following day when police were contacted. The victim reported minor injuries. Police identified the suspect on January 9. At the time of the incident, the accused was a Prince William County Public Schools teacher.

Just after 2 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2022, police reported officers were called to the 1400 block of Dillion Avenue in Dale City for a shooting report. They found a victim suffering a gunshot wound to the upper body.
We don’t yet know the condition of the victim or their identity. There is no word yet on a suspect.
Police arrested a driver they said tried to flee a traffic stop and struck an officer’s arm with his car.
On Tuesday, December 20, at 9:20 p.m., a Prince William County police officer conducted a vehicle stop on a blue 2008 Mercedes SC400 in the area of Dale Boulevard and Forestdale Avenue in Dale City.
At 4:11 p.m. Friday, December 23, Prince William County fire and rescue crews were called to the 6000 block of Fox Den Court near for a house fire.
Crews arrived to find a working kitchen fire and the occupants safely out of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished. The kitchen sustained moderate damage.
The National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators has designated Kerrydale Elementary in Prince William County and Bayside Sixth Grade Campus School in Virginia Beach as National ESEA Distinguished Schools for 2022-2023.
Kerrydale Elementary was selected for closing achievement gaps between student groups. The school serves a population of 333 students. Of these students, 12.6% receive special education services, 66% are economically disadvantaged, and 53% are English language learners.
