“This event is always a wonderful start to the holiday season and a great time of community fellowship,” Stafford County Government said. “I am delighted we can provide a venue for our local artisans, small businesses and school music groups to interact with our residents,” added Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Deuntay Diggs.

The county’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held Friday, December 5, 2025, from 5:55 to 8 p.m. at the Government Center Campus. The evening includes performances from local schools, artisans and crafters, food trucks, and a 7 p.m. tree lighting. Free parking will be available at the VDOT commuter lot on Courthouse Road with shuttle service, and limited accessible parking will be offered on-site.


“That allows us to expand from a fairly straightforward traditional deck replacement to a full superstructure replacement,” Fredericksburg Free Press reported. “It’s something that would add complexity significantly to the project.”

The Virginia Department of Transportation told Fredericksburg City Council that construction on the 1943 Falmouth Bridge will begin in 2030 and last three years, with the span remaining open but reduced to two southbound lanes and one northbound lane. The $160 million project includes a full superstructure replacement, a 14-foot shared-use path, a six-foot sidewalk, and 11-foot travel lanes.


Garrisonville District Supervisor Dr. Pamela Yeung used the Stafford County Board of Supervisors’ November 18 meeting to publicly criticize reporters, saying journalists should not approach her with questions at public events and warning that doing so is “dangerous.”

In Stafford County, catalytic converters were reported stolen from two vehicles at Corbin’s Automotive Truck & RV on Kings Highway. The theft occurred on November 18th, and Deputy J. A. Kotvas responded to the scene.

Additionally, a larceny was reported on Cambridge Street where copper and a leaf blower were stolen from a property. Deputy C. A. Sharp was on the case. At Stafford Hospital Center, a victim reported multiple items stolen from her purse, as recorded by Deputy R. L. Hubbard.


“The request was that this was not supposed to be brought back to us unless a specific set of information was provided, and you just stated that that information was not provided,” Fredericksburg Free Press reported. “Tonight, we would hope that Stafford County’s partnership would continue with the Patawomeck Tribe,” the tribe’s chief said, “But it did not.”

Crews arrived within minutes to find heavy fire coming from the side and rear of a two-story home. Firefighters battled challenging conditions, including strong winds, flaring propane tanks, and unstable interior floors. All residents evacuated safely before crews arrived, and no injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced family.

The fire is under investigation. The Fredericksburg Fire Department and Quantico Fire & Emergency Services assisted on scene.


Stafford County has issued a ban on all open-air burning for Sunday, November 16, due to high fire danger caused by dry conditions and gusty winds. The county Fire Marshal issued the order as a precaution to prevent wildfires.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Red Flag Warning, in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday, for much of Northern and Central Virginia, including Stafford County. Forecasters expect northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph in some areas, combined with very low humidity levels—ideal conditions for fires to ignite and spread quickly.


In a series of DUI incidents in Stafford County, a 33-year-old woman from Stafford was arrested after failing to maintain her lane on Oakridge Drive and Garrisonville Road.

The driver, who displayed signs of intoxication, became combative during the arrest, leading to charges of assault and battery on law enforcement, obstruction of justice, and refusal to provide a blood sample. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond, police said.


Stafford County faced a series of vehicle-related crimes on November 13, 2025. The most serious incident involved a motor vehicle theft on Clark Lane, where a resident reported their car missing after parking it in front of their home the previous night. Another vehicle theft was reported on Everglades Lane, with the vehicle last seen parked in the driveway on November 12.

Additionally, there were two attempted vehicle thefts on Barclay Lane and Bloomington Lane. In both cases, the vehicles were damaged, and evidence suggested attempts to steal them.
