Metz Middle School Principal Gary Morris provided the Manassas City Council with an update about students at its campus.

The first-year principal highlighted the school’s intellectual disabilities program, which allows students to volunteer in the community. Students in the program regularly volunteer at Grace Methodist Church in Manassas.

The City of Manassas School Board seeks rising juniors and seniors interested in becoming Student representatives for the School Board. Students must apply online before April 17, 2023. 

The Board will select two students to serve a year-long term and be a voice for all Manassas City Public School students.


On Saturday, April 22, 2023, Manassas Park Community Services will hold a community day. The event will occur from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Manassas Park City Hall, 100 Park Central Plaza, Manassas Park, 20110.

If the weather is unaccommodating, the venue will be Manassas Park High School, 8200 Euclid Avenue, Manassas Park.

The newest elementary school in Prince William County needs a permanent name. The school division will hold a community meeting to discuss the name (register here.)

Since construction began last year, officials have referred to the new school as “Rosemount Lewis” because the school sits near a park with the same name. The school is at 11000 Crestwood Drive, near Manassas.


Willie Deutsch ended his bid to reclaim the Coles District seat on the Prince William County School Board.

On November 14, 2022, a judge dismissed charges for Robert Wilson Jr., 37, a teacher accused of having weapons inside his apartment, located at Covington Harper Elementary School near Dumfries.

A postal employee dropped a package addressed to the school at the neighbor’s house. The neighbor opened the package to find ammunition and took the package to the school.
