Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative: “Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) awarded $1,500 scholarships to 14 area high school seniors in May. An independent panel of judges evaluated applicants on their academic records, community involvement, work experience, demonstrated leadership, recommendations, and essays.”

“Judges also recognized Alexis Francis, of Prince William County, as the most outstanding student among the group of recipients. She received an additional $1,500 as the winner of the J. Manley Garber Scholarship, named for the late NOVEC Board of Directors chairman. Francis plans to attend Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia.”

Taylor. “We are appreciative of this grant, which allows us to expand programming that provides robust, real-world, meaningful classroom experiences for every student.”

PALS is a statewide early literacy assessment that is administered in both the fall and spring to track progress over the year.

Volunteers of America: “Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas (VOACC) will launch its annual Operation Backpack back-to-school campaign on July 7, 2023… The goal of this year’s campaign is to raise $50,000 and collect brand-new backpacks, supplies, and school uniforms to support at least 3,000 boys and girls from income-constrained families in Maryland, DC, Virginia & North Carolina.”

“Initiatives like Operation Backpack® play an important role in helping to fill the gap in academic proficiency for children who are underserved and have experienced homelessness. According to the National Center for Homeless Education, children experiencing homelessness are more likely to show delayed development and have twice the rate of learning disabilities compared to non-homeless children. Among children who experienced homelessness in the U.S. in 2018, less than 30 percent achieved academic proficiency in reading, mathematics, and science.”

Yet despite this, Superintendent LaTonya McDade, School Board Chair Babur Lateef, and the other Democrats on the school board refuse to reverse their path towards the total destruction of our education system and the trust of parents.

Prince William County is not alone. As a matter of fact, we are still in the infancy of this total transformation of our children’s education. Although parents around the country have been in this fight for years, these school boards believe they know what is best and continue to push race-based equity and transgender policies in our schools, ultimately indoctrinating our innocent children.

Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC): “Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative sponsored four local high school students for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. from June 19 to 23.”

“They, along with nearly 1,800 other students from across the nation, learned about cooperatives, visited historic sites and museums, and saw the federal government in action.”

Berklee College of Music, Boston, Mass.:  “Berklee student and Haymarket native Jackson Ledbetter will be the drummer for Vivienne Artur’s band at the major country music festival Faster Horses in Brooklyn, Michigan on Sunday, July 16 as part of the Berklee Popular Music Institute (BPMI), an innovative class at the college that brings students and Berklee-affiliated acts to major North American music festivals.”

“The BPMI program guides students through every step of going from the classroom to the stage—important preparation for a performance career. While most Berklee classes take place over the course of one semester, BPMI runs on a three-semester, full-year cycle. In the fall semester, the class selects the artists and splits up into management teams.”
