Prince William County Public Schools: “Community organizations and business partners of T. Clay Wood Elementary School gathered from near and far to provide an incredible science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) expo for students and families.”

“The goal was to showcase their love for STEAM to elementary school students, and T. Clay Wood Elementary staff members and local partners delivered. The room was divided into different stations dedicated to a portion of STEAM, with hands-on activities for the students.”


Stafford County Public Schools: “Anne E. Moncure, Anthony Burns, Rocky Run, and Winding Creek Elementary Schools, along with North Stafford High School, were recently awarded with a Continuous Improvement Award by the Virginia Board of Education.”

“Each school demonstrated an increase in the combined rate for two or more student groups in the reading and math state Standards of Learning assessments for each of the past three years, with a total increase across the three years of ten percentage points or more.”


Stafford County Public Schools: “The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) recently presented Stafford County Public Schools’ Firefighting Program with the Region III Secondary Business and Industry Partnership Award.”

“As part of the VDOE’s Creating Excellence Awards, the program was recognized for its partnership with the local fire department and promotion of excellence in Career and Technical Education.”


Prince William County Public Schools: “Rockledge Elementary School [2300 Mariner Lane, Lake Ridge] celebrated its 50th anniversary recently with a family and community event that included inflatables and carnival-type games, hidden coins to find, rock decorating, face painting, cake walk, food trucks, and more.”

“There were displays set up in the cafeteria of current and former school programs, clubs, all the school’s yearbooks, pictures, school floor plans from beginning to current, and aerial pictures of the school over the years. There was also a giant rock donated by the local Vulcan quarry, which was painted gold and signed by all who attended.”


Prince William County Sheriff: “Prince William County Sheriff Glendell Hill is pleased to announce the awarding of $500 and $1,000 scholarships to six local college students on Friday, June 9, 2023. The scholarship presentation was held in the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office Conference Room.”

“The scholarship recipients, among their family members, were recognized for their academic achievements and commitment to pursuing a college education in the criminal justice field. During the presentation, Sheriff Hill spoke to the students on the importance of staying grounded. He stated, “don’t let peer pressure cause you to make bad decisions because it will affect your future career in criminal justice negatively.” He also commended the students for wanting to pursue a career in law enforcement.”


Prince William County Public Schools: “PWCS will be providing meals free of charge for all children this summer at designated school sites as part of the Summer Food Service Program.”

“Meal service is Monday-Friday during the dates listed (except as noted below). Meals are served on a first-come, first-served basis.”


Prince William police at 11:31 a.m.: “UPDATE: Ref Report of a Bomb Threat at [Glenkirk Elementary School in Gainesville]– No Device has been located. The school and grounds have been cleared. School faculty, staff and students will be resuming normal activities upon return to the school.”

9:46 a.m.: “Incident: Reports of Bomb Threat | Gainesville; #PWCPD is on scene at Glenkirk Elementary School located on Sedge Wren Dr for the REPORT of an Alleged bomb threat at the school. No device is suspected at the school & the building is being evacuated. Please follow police direction.”
