“While there is an ongoing investigation regarding the opposing team’s volunteer chain crew and their use of communication devices during the game, please understand that under Virginia High School League (VHSL) rules, even if there is a change in Battlefield’s status, our team will not advance to the Region Semifinals,” InsideNoVa reported. “The Bruins would be unable to move forward due to Virginia High School League rules that state that a team that loses a game cannot challenge the outcome.”

High-Speed Crash Kills Driver, Dog in Manassas

A high-speed crash early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a 34-year-old Manassas Park man and his small dog after his car collided with a pickup truck near Manassas.

Prince William police say the man was speeding north on Old Centreville Road around 6:18 a.m., attempting to pass vehicles near Parkland Street, when his 2004 Honda Accord crossed into the opposite lane and struck a 2021 Ford F-150. The driver and a Yorkie inside the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene.

Woman shot in domestic, officer injured in attempted wounding case

In an incident on November 17, a police officer was injured in Woodbridge when a driver attempted to evade arrest. The driver, in a black Infiniti sedan with a stolen license plate, reversed into another vehicle and struck the officer. The officer managed to jump onto the trunk to avoid further harm. The vehicle fled north on Richmond Highway, entering Fairfax County, where it was lost from sight. The officer suffered minor injuries.

In another incident, a 21-year-old woman was shot by a family member during a domestic dispute on Cardinal Crest Dr. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, a 20-year-old man, was arrested nearby after fleeing the scene.

Prince William County Real Estate Taxes Due December 5

Prince William County announced that real estate taxes for the second half of 2025 are due on December 5 and urged residents who have not received a bill to contact the Taxpayer Services Office at 703-792-6710 or [email protected].

The county outlined multiple payment options, including online payments, phone payments using jurisdiction code 1036, mailing checks to the county’s Philadelphia lockbox, or paying in person at the Development Services Building in Woodbridge or the Sudley North Government Center in Manassas. Residents using mortgage companies to manage tax payments are advised to coordinate with their lender to ensure proper processing. Late payments incur a 10% penalty plus annual interest accruing monthly.

Holiday market coming to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center

A new outdoor Holiday Market is coming to Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge on December 4 and 11, offering handcrafted gifts, seasonal treats, and winter produce from local vendors.

Organized by Long Family Markets, the market will run from 2 to 7 p.m. both Thursdays in the hospital’s main parking lot at 2300 Opitz Boulevard. The event aims to support small businesses across the region and foster a festive community atmosphere.

The motion to strike is granted.”

Dryer Vent Fire Displaces 5 in Dumfries Home

A house fire in Dumfries on Saturday afternoon, November 16, 2025, forced five adults from their home after flames broke out on the backside of the residence in the 3000 block of Desert Palm Court. Fire crews arrived around 1:21 p.m. to find moderate fire damage. No one was hurt, but the house was declared unsafe to occupy.

Investigators say a buildup of lint in the dryer vent sparked the fire. The Fire Marshal’s Office is urging residents to have dryer vent lines professionally cleaned once a year to prevent similar hazards.

Planning Commission Denies Data Center Proposal on Prince William Parkway

The Prince William County Planning Commission denied a deferred data center plan slated for Hornbaker Road at its Nov. 5 meeting.

The plan was originally brought forth to the Commission at its Sept. 24 meeting, but two tied votes — one for approval and the other for denial — forced the Commission to defer the plan to a later date.

Pump Track Opens at Rollins Ford Park in Nokesville

George Stewart sworn in as Gainesville District Supervisor, pledges to serve community with integrity

George Stewart was sworn in as the new Gainesville District Supervisor during a ceremony on Friday, November 14, following the unexpected passing of Supervisor Bob Weir in July.

The event, held in Prince William County, drew several local and state officials, including Supervisors Tom Gordy, Kenny Bode, and Margaret Franklin, as well as State Senator Danica Roem (D). Clerk of the Court Jacqueline Smith administered the oath after Keith Scarborough, Chair of the Electoral Board, presented Stewart with his certificate of election.
