We’ve got some news about the landfills and recycling centers in Prince William and Stafford counties.
First, in Prince William, the county’s landfill at 14811 Dumfries Road at Independent Hill will close at 2 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.

A first for the area, OmniRide will implement a new local bus service on Sundays.
Buses will travel along the Woodbridge/Lake Ridge, Dale City, Dumfries, Route 1 routes, and Prince William Metro Express between Woodbridge and the Franconia-Springfield Metro station.

A historical marker in Dumfries showing the location of the third Prince William County Courthouse is repaired.
The marker was damaged about two years ago by a lawnmower, and some bricks and mortar were knocked off the monument.
The imminent approval of Devlin Technology Park, a site formerly planned for housing that morphed into yet another power-sucking eyesore, will bring the total capacity of data centers operating or planned in Prince William County to nearly 50 million square feet.
That doubles the current capacity of neighboring Loudoun county, and exceeds the 48 million a recent study projected to be the maximum demand for the next twenty years.
The sheriff’s office protects the county courthouse in Manassas and serves court orders. The police department, commonly seen in Carolina-blue colored vehicles, responds to 911 calls — everything from car crashes and shootings to helping stranded drivers with flat tires.
