A Manassas-area hotel manager is doing her part to fight back amid a rising wave of crime in Prince William County.

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares (R) came to the Prince William County Police Department in Woodbridge to hear speakers testify and describe human trafficking survivors.

“It’s a crime that hides in plain sight. Too many people in Northern Virginia think that it’s not happening in our community, but it is. It is one of the most insidious crimes. It’s a multigenerational crime. It not only affects the victims, but it also affects their future partners, their children”, said a woman who identified herself as Mary.


Sudley Elementary School is celebrating a milestone this year, its 50th anniversary.

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, Sudley students and their families will celebrate this anniversary with a fall festival of games, entertainment, and food trucks. In addition, former principals, Sudley retirees, and Prince William County dignitaries will be part of the celebration.


Updated 5 p.m. — For the second time this week, police in Prince William County have filed charges against a student after a gun weapon was found on school property.

On Tuesday, September 13 at 9:29 a.m., the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Lake Ridge Middle School, at 12350 Mohican Rd. in Lake Ridge, was contacted regarding a student who assaulted another student with a knife while on school property.


(The Center Square) – The freight railroad industry reached a tentative deal with rail worker unions Thursday morning to avoid a national rail strike that threatened to cripple the nation’s already stressed supply chain.

The tentative agreement still must be ratified in a vote of the unions’ workers.


Virginians who want to skip the check-in line at their next visit to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) are invited to schedule an appointment.

Earlier this year, DMV enhanced its operations to provide simultaneous walk-in and appointment services. Although customers are welcome to walk in at their convenience, scheduling an appointment for service saves time.


Mayor Derrick Wood declined an invitation from his opponent, Ebony Lofton, to participate in a debate on the issues facing Dumfries.

In an email to Lofton, Wood states his schedule for the next 55 days until the November 8 General Election is booked. Lofton proposed holding a debate a the town’s Simpson Community Center next to the town hall, at 17757  Main Street.


The state’s only commuter railroad warns of canceled trains on both lines, from Fredericksburg and Manassas to Washington, D.C. The lines are owned by freight railroads CSX and Norfolk Southern, respectively, and without train dispatchers monitoring the traffic on those lines, VRE trains cannot operate.

“Any labor strike would result in the immediate suspension of all Virginia Railway Express train service until a resolution is reached,” VRE penned notice to riders.
