Updated 10:55 a.m. — A woman is hospitalized after she was reduced from a burning home in Dumfries.

Fire and rescue crews responded to a 2-alarm townhouse blaze in the Williamstown neighborhood at about 7:30 a.m. The woman was pulled from the home’s second floor and flown to an area hospital.


A Dumfries woman walking in the area of Prince William Parkway and Crooked Knoll Lane, about five miles south of Manassas, was struck and killed Friday, November 25, 2022.

The woman died at a hospital from her injuries. A van struck the woman at about 6 p.m. The driver remained on the scene of the crash.


Prince William County Gainesville District Supervisor Peter Candland says he wants to place a memorial for Kyle Wilson, the only county firefighter to die in the of service, in a more prominent place.

A woman, who is said to be middle-aged, crashed her SUV into a jersey wall while traveling south on Interstate 95 near the Occoquan River. Multiple 911 callers reported the crash at about 4 p.m.

Prince William and Fairfax county rescue crews responded to the call and worked to pull the woman from the wreckage. The woman lost consciousness.


A holiday tradition cherished by thousands of Northern Virginia families, the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Santa Trains will return on Saturday, December 10, after a two-year hiatus.

A total of 13 trains will depart from five VRE stations: Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Woodbridge, Manassas, and Burke Centre. The 75-minute excursions begin as early as 8:30 a.m. and as late as 3:30 p.m. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their elves will be onboard listening to children’s Christmas wishes and handing out goodie bags.

Prince William police posted about several robberies that took place this past weekend, November 17 to 20.

Black male Last seen wearing a black hat, red shirt, camouflage hooded sweatshirt underneath a blue jacket, grey or olive-green pants. The suspect was wearing white covers over all 10 fingers.


Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative is collecting new or gently used winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves for underprivileged children. In addition, NOVEC HELPS, a group of employee volunteers, is collecting new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children in homeless shelters.

“We’re asking Co-op customers and other residents to please donate toys and gifts for tots, tweens, and teens,” says Nan Musick, NOVEC HELPS board of directors chair. “We always collect a lot of toys for little ones, but older children and teenagers appreciate backpacks, board games, books, bath gift sets, hand-held electronics, and socks.”


The westbound direction of this same 13-mile section of express lanes opened on Saturday, November 19. Drivers should use caution when traveling on I-66, as traffic becomes acclimated to the new express lanes and ramps.

Now, the entire 22.5-mile 66 Express Lanes corridor from Route 29 in Gainesville to I-495 will be open with tolling and HOV-2+ rules in effect.
