Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On Sunday, December 4 at 1:40 p.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 14400 block of Village High St. in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed a dark-colored vehicle was driving down Village High St. when an occupant of the vehicle brandished a firearm out the window and fired multiple rounds before the driver fled the area. The rounds struck the exterior of two homes in the area. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.

Felony Eluding | Reckless Driving – On Monday, December 5 at 6:28AM, officers responded to the Westgate Apartments located in the 8100 block of Portwood Tn. In Manassas (20109) for initial reports of an unresponsive man in a vehicle.

As officers were responding, they learned determined the vehicle had recently been reported stolen. When officers approached the vehicle, the occupants refused to follow commands. At one point, the driver of the vehicle, later identified as the accused, reversed their vehicle at a high rate of speed into a police cruiser before quickly fleeing from the scene. No officers were struck by the accused.


Thirty-eight businesses received a ‘Certificate of Occupancy’ or official letter to ‘Open for Business’ from the Prince William County Department of Development Services’ Small Business Project Management Program in September 2022, bringing the year-to-date total to 296 ‘Open for Business.’

On December 5 at 5:58 a.m., investigators with the Prince William County Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Richmond Hwy near Russell Road in Quantico to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian.

Multiple callers contacted the Public Safety Communications Center to report a man walking in the roadway in the above area. Prior to officers arriving at the location, the man had been struck by a vehicle.


The Prince William County Planning Commission voted in favor of rezoning the Kline Property, at the corner of Prince William Parkway and Liberia Avenue near Manassas, for the development of a multi-use project, including the development of 240 townhomes, a drive-in pharmacy, fast food restaurant and storage facility.

On the newly-opened 22.5-miles of 66 Express Lanes, located outside the Beltway from Route 29 in Gainesville to I-495 (Capital Beltway), vehicles must have three or more occupants, and an E-ZPass Flex switched to the “HOV On” mode, to travel the lanes toll free. The 66 Express Lanes Outside the Beltway and HOV-3+ rule is in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

On the existing nine miles of 66 Express Lanes, located inside the Beltway from I-495 to the D.C. line, vehicles must also have three or more occupants, and an E-ZPass Flex switched to the “HOV On” mode, to travel the lanes toll free. The 66 Express Lanes inside the Beltway and HOV-3+ rule is in effect on weekdays only during peak periods in peak commute directions.


Today, U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Va.) welcomed students from Dumfries Elementary School to his Capitol Hill office to kick off the holiday season with carols, milk and cookies, and decoration of the office Christmas tree. This year’s tree, a 12-foot Fraser fir, is from Mt. Rogers Tree Farm in Grayson County, Va.

The fifth-graders helped Sen. Warner decorate his tree with homemade ornaments before serenading members of his staff with classic carols such as “Jingle Bells” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”


Prince William fire and rescue crews are investigating a building fire in Dumfries.

Crews were called to the 17000 block of Colonial Port Road where they found a fire at a large warehouse building at 2:13 a.m., Thursday, December 1.


A judge tossed out a lawsuit against Prince William County Supervisor Peter Candland, who represents the Gainesville District.
