Tweflth-grade student Chance Williams and a panel of two seniors, and students if fifth and six grades in Prince William County Schools participated.

During the town hall, the panel discussed a range of topics, including bullying, mental health issues in schools, lack of community activities for students, and a feeling of not being safe. Parents were also in attendance and shared their concerns about school lockdowns and student bullying.


Weir beat his Democrat challenger Kerensa Sumers in a landslide 30-point victory today in a Special Election to determine who will complete the term of former Gainesville District Supervisor Peter Candland, who designed in Decembe022 after 10 years on the job.

Weir’s election is widely seen as a referendum on data centers and development, an answer to a Board of County Supervisors that continues to press forward on plaBattlefieldeNationalr more server farms in both residential areas in Bristow, and historical areas like the Manassas Battlefield National Park.


At some polls, elections chiefs were instructed to fold ballots and place them into an envelope because they were too wide to be inserted into a scanner. Those ballots amounted to only a handful” and will be counted when polls close at 7 p.m., said General Registrar Eric Olsen.

Olsen said voter turnout is higher than normal for this election, with three percent of the electorate turning out to vote during the early voting period that ended Saturday, February 18, 2023.


A public meeting about the pipeline between the Prince William County Landfill and the McCoart Center, the heart of the county government will be held Tuesday, February 21, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the McCoart Building, 1 County Complex Court in Woodbridge, according to a flier sent to PLN by Prince William County Neabsco District Supervisor Victor Angry:

Some Prince William County residents in the Dale City area are learning about a new natural gas pipeline that could be laid near their homes. As we’ve reported, hundreds of residents are affected, and county leaders said they aren’t happy with efforts to educate the public about the project.


A Special Election will decide who will serve the remainder of Peter Candland’s term on the Board of County Supervisors ending on December 31, 2023. Democrat Kerensa Sumers and Republican Bob Weir are vying to replace Candland, who resigned in December 2022 after ten years serving on the board.

Dumfries will hold its annual Black History Month Celebration at Little Union Baptist Church, at 17150 Batestown Road in Dumfries.

The keynote speaker will be Rev. Cozy Bailey, the head of the Prince William County NAACP Chapter and husband to the elected Prince William County Supervisor Andrea Bailey.
