Berklee College of Music, Boston, Mass.:  “Berklee student and Haymarket native Jackson Ledbetter will be the drummer for Vivienne Artur’s band at the major country music festival Faster Horses in Brooklyn, Michigan on Sunday, July 16 as part of the Berklee Popular Music Institute (BPMI), an innovative class at the college that brings students and Berklee-affiliated acts to major North American music festivals.”

“The BPMI program guides students through every step of going from the classroom to the stage—important preparation for a performance career. While most Berklee classes take place over the course of one semester, BPMI runs on a three-semester, full-year cycle. In the fall semester, the class selects the artists and splits up into management teams.”

The victims were then transported to an area hospital where they are expected to recover. The investigation revealed the two victims were near the playground area when they encountered two other males, later identified as the two accused. At one point during the encounter, a verbal altercation escalated before shots were fired, striking the two victims. The suspects fled the area on foot prior to police arriving at the location.

“While checking the area, officers and a police K-9 located and detained both suspects who were in possession of the firearms. No additional injuries or property damage were reported. Following the investigation, the two accused, both identified as 16-year-old male juveniles, were arrested. In addition, one of the accused was found in possession of suspected illegal narcotics.”

Gorka said Van Meter is running in the strongly-leaning Democrat district, which includes portions part of southern Fairfax County, and Woodbridge Prince William County, in hopes to counteract ideological changes ushered in under Democrats, who controlled the House, Senate, and Governor’s office until 2021.
