Prince William Police Department: “Commercial Burglary – On January 8 at 9:45 a.m., officers responded to the Verizon store located at 3278 Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge to investigate a burglary. Video surveillance revealed at approximately 2:40 a.m., two unknown men smashed a side glass door and entered the business. Once inside the location, the suspects smashed the glass display cases and took several phones before leaving. There is no suspect description at this time.”
“Brandishing of a Firearm – On January 7 at 10:52 p.m., officers responded to the Candlewood Suites located at 11220 Balls Ford Road in Manassas to investigate brandishing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 48-year-old man, was involved in a verbal altercation in the parking lot with another man, identified as the accused. During the encounter, the accused brandished two firearms before the victim left the parking lot and contacted the police. The accused remained on scene and was detained without incident. The accused was found in possession of two firearms, ammunition, and suspected illegal narcotics. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Michael Lee LOVELACE, was arrested. Original post: A jackknifed tractor-trailer is causing a significant back on Interstate 95 at Dumfries. Traffic is backed up for five miles.
From VDOT: “Dumfries: 95SB at Route 234: All SB lanes closed due to tractor-trailer crash. Right shoulder getting by at times. Responders still arriving. Pls use alternate route.”

A second suspect in the day-after-Christmas slayings at a Denny’s restaurant outside Manassas in 2019 pled guilty.
Ryan Thomas Walker, 26, will serve 17 years in prison and then five years probation for his role in the killings. Walker and 25-year-old Jordan Anderson walked into the restaurant at 8201 Sudley Road on Dec. 26, 2019, to kill, police said.
Virginia Scope: “Sen. Jeremy McPike (D-Prince William, Stafford) filed a bill that would allow ‘Dreamers’ to become either a chief of police, police officer of a locality, deputy sheriff, jail officer or law-enforcement officer in Virginia.”
“McPike says the request for this bill came from the Prince William County Police Department. “They have a great candidate who grew up here, and this is the only country she knows and loves. She has always dreamed of being a police officer,” he said in an interview.”
Prince William police report the first murder in the county of 2024.
On Saturday, January 6 at 5:04 p.m., officers responded to investigate a shooting that reportedly occurred in the area of Possum Point Road and Leonard Street in Dumfries earlier that day.
[Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 at 4:14 p.m.] fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 4400 blk of Kentland Drive [in Dale City] for a reported house fire.
It’s easy to spend money when it’s not your own.
At the last Prince William County Board of Supervisors meeting of 2023, I spoke to the board about the massive cost of feeding board supervisors during their meetings. I showed a video of county residents waiting in food pantry lines.
When Michael Smith dug into the box of chicken he had bought at Popeye’s Chicken on Route 234 in Dumfries, he found a fried piece of “something” and felt it required a closer look before he bit into it.
“I sent it to their general manager so they could see what’s going on; she never got back to me,” he said. This didn’t sit well with him.
