Back in May, I did one of those things your much younger self would look at and say, “Are you crazy?” After witnessing firsthand during the pandemic how the decisions of local government impact our everyday lives – I decided to run for office in Manassas.

The Manassas School Board is considering installing metal detectors at Osbourn High School. The devices, called Evolv Express Lanes, would allow some 2,000 students to be searched for weapons as they enter the city’s only high school.

Camille La Vie at Potomac Mills mall donated 10 dresses from their bridal collection to the military, first responders, and healthcare workers.

The donation event took place on Thursday, November 10, in honor of Veterans Day. Prices ranged from $500 to $1000, and styles from ballgowns, mermaid, a-line, and tiered bridal gowns.

Officers arrived and found a man inside a car suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Multiple bullets pierced the car, parked on Morgan Court in Dumfries.

The unidentified victim was pronounced dead. An investigation is ongoing.

The funds will create a dedicated military and veteran fund as part of the Student Success Fund. NOVA is among the largest community colleges in the nation with six campuses serving more than 4,000 enrolled veteran and military students across Transurban’s Express Lanes system.

The NOVA Foundation provides financial support in the form of emergency grants and scholarships for academically successful students facing financial hardship stemming from healthcare, transportation, housing, and other basic needs. Transurban’s financial contributions to the fund will specifically support veteran and military affiliated students who face financial challenges while working towards graduation, reducing disruption to their continuous education.

Supervisor Jeanine Lawson vowed continue the fight against the Prince William Digital Gateway next to the Manassas National Battlefield. Lawson, a Republican who represents a portion of western Prince William County, visited polling places in the east on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8 to encourage residents to contact their respective supervisors to oppose the digital gateway project, which plans 27 million sure feet of new server server farms next Civil War battlefield.
