Virginia Housing: “Today, the Virginia Mortgage Relief Program (VMRP), administered by Virginia Housing, announced that the program is closing to new applicants effective October 1, 2023.”

“The Commonwealth’s federal funding is limited, but VMRP will continue to operate until the program reaches full disbursement of the funds received from the American Rescue Plan Act and the U.S Department of Treasury.”

Manassas City Police Department: “Shots Fired: On August 1, 2023, at 10:00 p.m., Manassas City Police responded to the 9300 block of Taney Road for a shooting. Officers arrived on the scene and located a victim of an apparent gunshot wound. Officers began life-saving measures and summoned rescue personnel. The victim was airlifted to a local area hospital for further treatment. An extensive investigation was launched in coordination with local law enforcement K9 officers. Officers were able to identify and locate the suspect. The juvenile suspect was apprehended and a Detention Order was served. The investigation is active and ongoing. If anyone has information regarding the above incidents, please contact the Manassas City Police Department at 703-257-8000.”

“Shots Fired: On August 1, 2023, at 6:55 p.m. Manassas City Police responded to the area of Taney Road and Hood Road with a report of gunfire.When officers arrived, they began to canvas the area and located several shell casings. Two vehicles and a residence were struck. Officers were unable to locate any injured person for this incident. The investigation is active and ongoing.”

Marine Corps Heritage Foundation: “The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation announces the addition of the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters, the Navy’s official Chorus, to its Summer Concert series.”

”The Sea Chanters will perform on August 10 at 7 p.m. on the outdoor plaza at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Virginia. The chorus performs traditional choral music, sea chanteys, patriotic fare, opera, Broadway and contemporary music.”

Lee Fox has been flying planes for over 50 years. He started as a teenager and later made a 40-year career flying passenger jets for American Airlines. But the job he now has- flying a 1942 PT Stearman bi-wing plane — is one of his dreams.

“I’ve got close to 40,000 hours of flying time, and this thing is a handful. It’s one of the toughest airplanes I’ve ever flown. Every time you fly it, you say, ‘Fly it until it’s in the hangar with the door closed because this has a mind of its own.’ It’ll want to run off on you,” said Fox.
