Prince William County has a new chief at its office of elections. He’ll take over after the November 2 General Election.
From the county government: The Prince William County Electoral Board is excited to announce the hiring of Eric Olsen as the new Director of Elections (General Registrar) for Prince William County. The announcement comes following an extensive search and competitive hiring process. Mr. Olsen will start on November 8, 2021.
Crews working to build a new public safety center in in Manassas fell 30 feet to the ground.
From the Manassas government: On Friday, Oct. 8 at about 4 p.m. a construction scaffolding partially collapsed at the under-construction Public Safety Headquarters at 9608 Grant Ave in the City of Manassas. The scaffolding was in place to support exterior work of the building. Two workers were injured during the incident. The fall was approximately 30 feet. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. The scene is under investigation by OSHA, and the City of Manassas Risk Management.
Dumfries now has a place for caregivers to change adult diapers at its town hall.
From Dumfries Councilwoman Cydny Neville: When you visit the John Wilmer Porter Building on Main Street in Dumfries, you’ll notice a change on the first floor. One of the restrooms has been upgraded to an all gender, handicap restroom, with an adult changing station!
FRED Regional Transit — the local bus service for Stafford and Spotsylvania counties and Fredericksburg — has a new name.
The buses will now be known as “FXBGO!”
