Prince William County police reported a death investigation at Potomac Festival in Woodbridge, several shots-fired calls, an abduction case with a wanted suspect, a malicious wounding arrest and an attempted robbery at a Salvation Army.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported five DUI arrests, a drug charge tied to one of those stops, an assault at a Wawa, a cigarette theft and other cases.

The Manassas Park Governing Body approved a proclamation marking the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 and set a local flag-raising for 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11.
Mayor Alanna Mensing presided. A 2021 Governing Body resolution already named Sept. 11 a “day of heroes” in the city. The new proclamation, read into the record, notes nearly 3,000 people killed in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and honors first responders, military service members, and the city’s pledge to educate future generations. The motion carried. Officials invited residents to the Sept. 11 flag raising at 8:30 a.m., described as the time the attacks began.
Three people died in a fiery I-66 Express Lanes crash in Fairfax; Prince William police responded to a believed self-inflicted shooting in Woodbridge; Stafford businesses are pressing supervisors to reject a BPOL tax; and inmate deaths in Virginia jails rose to a five-year high.
According to FOX 5 DC, three people died Sunday afternoon after a Honda Pilot struck a stopped truck carrying oxygen tanks in the right travel lane of the westbound Interstate 66 Express Lanes in Fairfax County. Virginia State Police said the collision occurred around 4:10 p.m., the Honda caught fire, and all three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. A Toyota 4Runner was also involved in the events leading up to the crash.
The Town of Quantico is running at about 20 percent water pressure after a problem on Marine Corps Base Quantico’s system, Mayor Kevin Brown said Tuesday, and the town has no estimate for when full service will return.
Brown said the town has not been given specifics on the cause. Residents began reporting pressure problems midday Monday, and some said they first noticed issues Friday. The entire town is affected — 560 residents and dozens of businesses — along with some portion of the base. Brown said he does not know the scope of the impact on the installation.

A baby died after a hit-and-run on Richmond Highway in Woodbridge, Prince William County police said Monday.
The crash happened at 9:42 p.m. Sept. 3 in a parking lot in the 14500 block of Richmond Highway, near Gabe’s and Featherstone Road. A 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were walking through the lot when a dark-colored pickup struck both of them and left the scene. The truck has not been found.
