Police said a man tried to grab the 20-year-old woman while she was walking toward her home in the 10400 block of Butterfield Street, located about a mile from a Home Depot, and Oh! International Food Market near Interstate 66.

The woman drove parked her car outside her home at 9:05 p.m. Before she got out of her car, she saw a man pull up in a tan-colored sedan, park, get out and walk toward the apartment complex.

A woman from Alabama was died while sitting in a disabled SUV on the Captial Beltway, and a Washington, D.C. man is now facing charges.

Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Fairfax County. The crash occurred at 9:27 p.m. Saturday. March 5 on Interstate 495 near Exit 174/Eisenhower Ave Connector in Alexandria.

(VCU Capital News Service) The Virginia General Assembly passed legislation that will allow school principals to report some misdemeanor offenses of students to law enforcement, reversing parts of a previous law.

Lawmakers, parents and advocates are concerned the legislation will prompt the overreporting of minor offenses to law enforcement versus leaving reporting to the discretion of school officials.

Police remind pedestrians and drivers to watch out as spring temperatures warm up.

In Prince William County, four pedestrians were killed in 2020, the same number of pedestrians in 2019. In all the pedestrian-involved crashes, the pedestrian was determined to have violated a traffic law that was determined to be the primary cause of the collision, according to police.
