The majority of the listed streets are part of the city’s Asphalt Rehabilitation Program, which will rehabilitate issues that range from milling and resurfacing to complete reconstruction to installing proper drainage. The streets were chosen based on the high volume of daily traffic and are in worse condition compared to other streets that need work.

The city estimates the cost for the rehabilitation to be nearly $1.6 million.

A 9-year-old girl shot in Woodbridge on Tuesday, May 24, remains in critical condition.

Meanwhile, police arrested a 15-year-old in connection with her shooting. The teenager, who lives in Triangle, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding, shooting at an occupied vehicle, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possessing a firearm by a juvenile. Police arrested the teenager today without incident.

The investigation at Woodbridge Senior High School, at 3001 Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge revealed that three students were inside a bathroom when a verbal altercation escalated at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 25.

After more than two months of negotiation, Virginia lawmakers are nearing a deal on the state’s biennial budget plan and intend to hold a vote on compromise legislation on June 1.

The House of Delegates, which has narrow Republican control, and the Senate, which has narrow Democratic control, passed their own versions of the state budget in early March but missed a mid-March deadline to pass compromise legislation. Spokespersons for the House Republicans and the Senate Democrats have both confirmed with The Center Square they are nearing a deal that will be ready on June 1.

On May 24, at 9 p.m. Manassas City Police responded to the 10300 block of 7th Regiment Drive for a report of a group fighting in the parking lot.

As officers responded, several callers reported hearing gunshots. The group fled the area as the officers arrived on the scene.

The weather across our region on Friday, May 27, will be unsettled, with showers, thunderstorms, possible tornadoes, and heavy rain along the Interstate 95 corridor.

According to the National Storm Prediction Center, widely scattered severe thunderstorms are possible on Friday from the Carolinas northward into eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Damaging gusts and a couple of tornadoes are the primary threats to the stronger storms in the Chesapeake Bay region.
