Manassas City police: “On June 26, [2023], at approximately 10:30 p.m., MCPD responded to a report of a possible overdose in a vehicle. Officer Duck located the vehicle and announced on the radio that he believed the subject was in the throes of a narcotics overdose and that he would need to break the window.”

“The backup officers advised Officer Duck that rescue services were stuck behind a train. Officer Duck recognized the exigency of the situation and, without hesitation, shattered the rear window and gave the subject a dose of Narcan. The subject was transported to the hospital by Fire and Rescue for further treatment.”


It’s been a week since 34-year-old Freddy Orozco Lopez was shot dead in Manassas Park.

As far as we know, the suspect, Juan Zacarias, 39, remains at large. We also still don’t know the circumstances of the case. A police press release posted to the police department’s Facebook page six days ago states detectives don’t plan to release that information due to an ongoing investigation.


Fredericksburg Nationals: “The FredNats picked up their second straight win over the Salem Red Sox, winning 4-2 in front of over 5,000 fans at VACU Stadium.”

“Fredericksburg jumped on Salem starter Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz in the bottom of the first inning. Armando Cruz drew a walk with one man gone, before Daylen Lile doubled to put runners on second and third. Branden Boissiere lifted a pitch into center field for a sacrifice fly to bring Cruz home with the first run of the game. Blake Klassen followed with his first FredNat RBI, a double to plate Lile and push the Freddies ahead 2-0.”


Stafford County Fire and Rescue: “At 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 1st, units with Stafford County Fire and Rescue (SCFR) were dispatched for a reported structure fire initially reported along Banks Ford Parkway. While en route, the address was updated to the 00 block of Le Way near McWhirt Loop.”

“Due to the address change, units arrived on the scene less than 10 minutes later, reporting multiple vehicles on fire and a single story, industrial warehouse with fire showing from the front of the building. As crews began their fire attack, the fire vented through the roof. A total of 18 vehicles and one all-terrain vehicle were damaged.”


National Weather Service Baltimore-Washington: “Showers and thunderstorms are expected today, with strong to severe storms especially in central VA and the central Shenandoah Valley. Highs today will range from the mid-70s in the mountains to the upper 80s elsewhere.”

“Today: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Widespread haze. Patchy fog between 7 am and 8 am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 87. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.”


July 3, 2023, update from Manassas police: “The juvenile is a 9-year-old male, and the dogs are pit bulls.”

Original Post — Manassas City Police: “On June 26th, the Manassas City Police Department responded to an incident on the 9000 block of Winterset Drive involving three individuals bitten by canines. An investigation by our Animal Control Division revealed that the incident began when two dogs were inadvertently let out of the property. During the effort to get two canines back to their residence, one of the two canines began to bite a minor; an adult female relative grabbed the canine and pulled it off the child, allowing the child to get to safety.’
