Edutainment Productions at OSA (Open Space Arts) is proud to announce “Harmony of Horizons,” an innovative multidisciplinary performance that pushes the boundaries of artistic collaboration and explores the future of arts institutions. This captivating 25-minute production, written by veteran broadway theatre artist Herb Williams, will debut on September 14th, opening up the 2024 PWC Arts Alive Festival at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
House of Mercy, a longstanding food pantry and thrift store near Manassas, announced significant operational changes in response to a sharp increase in demand for its services. The organization will temporarily halt new client registrations and shift from offering free to discounted clothing.
“We’ve seen a 49% increase in demand just this year,” said Jessica Root, executive director for House of Mercy. “This year, we hit our capacity, serving over 134 families in a single day. We’re temporarily pausing new client registrations to focus on our current clients and ensure we maintain the quality of service.”
The Historic Manassas Train Depot waiting room and restrooms will be closing for renovations Thursday and open back up on Sept. 5.
The offices will be closed from Thursday through Sept 4. and staff will be working remotely. They can be reached by email or by leaving a message at 703-361-6599. Staff will return on Sept. 5 at 9 a.m.
The Manassas community is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, September 9, at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the extensive renovations to the City Hall at 9027 Center Street. The event will also mark the dedication of the newly named Edgar Rohr City Council Chambers, honoring a pivotal figure in the city’s history.
Departments returned to City Hall in June after a two-year renovation phase, and the first City Council meeting in the renovated building will take place immediately after the ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
Habitat for Humanity in Prince William County, under the interim leadership of Steve Liga, is recalibrating its mission to tackle the unique challenges of expensive real estate and a community need for home repairs rather than new builds.
Liga, who stepped in as the interim director, detailed how his experience with other nonprofits led him to this role. He explained his immediate focus on stabilizing the organization’s financial footing and reconnecting with the community after a slow period exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.
As early voting for the fall 2024 election approaches, Potomac Local News is dedicated to informing the community about candidates vying for one of three open seats on the Manassas City Council and the mayor’s seat.
To help voters make an informed decision, we are continuing a new feature series, “One-Question Manassas City Council Candidate Survey.” This series will run throughout the campaign season, offering insights into each candidate’s stand on key issues affecting our city. Our third one, which ran on Aug. 16, focused on commercial airline services.
ARTFactory announced Talya Conroy as the new chief executive officer on Aug. 23 in a press release.

I am humbled by the trust the Board of Directors has in me, and incredibly thankful to the ARTfactory staff, volunteers and patrons for all that they do for our amazing organization,” Conroy said. “I always like to say we are just getting started, and I cannot wait to see what the ARTfactory has in store for us in the many years to come.”
STEM Solutions, a company focused on connecting “security-cleared talent with federal contractors,” has transitioned to its first physical office space in Historic Manassas.
Brad Wilson, the company’s founder, is a 2006 Osbourn High School alumnus and a state football championship for the school. He remains dedicated to the community, even hiring an intern, being an active member of the OHS alumni board and has begun discussions with OHS’s career and technical education program.
