I had a lot of fun today talking to Ms. Sharon Siepel’s business and marketing classes at North Stafford High School.

The bell rang bright and early at 8 a.m., where I stood before a class of about 25 students and talked about founding Potomac Local News, an online news business serving neighborhoods between Manassas and Fredericksburg. I also enjoyed speaking with Ms. Siepel’s 11:30 a.m. class.

Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, is hosting its 2022 Rocking Around the Boardwalk event featuring a Holiday Walk of Lights and Unique Holiday Tree Display.

Visitors can now walk down a magical path to enjoy handcrafted light displays, and beginning this Saturday, December 10, also view the Unique Holiday Tree Display, Fridays – Sundays, through December 30. Lights not on display December 23-25


The Hylton Performing Arts Center welcomes Sheyna Burt as its newest Chair of the Executive Board, effective at the start of the 2022-2023 season.

An arts advocate and attorney, Burt also serves as President at local Prince William County institutions, including Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra and Youth Orchestras of Prince William.

Marine Corps Historic Half Events include the half marathon (13.1 miles), the Semper 5ive (5 miles) and the Devil Dog Double, a combo of the two events for a total of 18.1 miles. All three events are returning to Fredericksburg, Virginia to run live and in-person on May 21, 2023. A virtual option is also available.

Participants receive a short sleeve technical shirt, a commemorative finisher medal and more.


Step into a one-horse open sleigh for a ride through Historic Downtown Manassas.

Carriages will be parked at the Manassas Railroad Depot waiting to give passengers free Holiday Carriage Rides for the next two Sundays: December 11 and 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. No reservations needed. Rides are on a first-come, first-serve basis.


Updated December 14, 2022 — The ARTfactory is pleased to present the 19th Annual Off the Wall High School Art Exhibit & Competition. This year’s exhibition features 39 student artists.

Each year the area high school students are invited to share their talent by participating in a high school art exhibit and competition sponsored by Lockheed Martin. The competition encourages student expression and creativity in a professional setting.


Thank you to those who came to hear our concert in Occoquan this past Saturday. It was great fun and the perfect way to start the Christmas season.

There are two more opportunities to join us for Songs of the Season!  The main concert will be at 8:00 pm this coming Friday, December 9th, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 13506 Minnieville Rd., Woodbridge (corner of Minnieville and Smoketown).
