Fredericksburg Drops Charges Against 9 Arrested in Anti-Israel Protest

On Monday, June 10, and Tuesday, June 11, Fredericksburg Commonwealth’s Attorney Elizabeth K. Humphries dropped charges against the nine students arrested and charged with trespassing during an anti-Israel campus protest on April 27. Humphries opted to prosecute three more individuals arrested on that date who were not students. Each was sentenced to 20 hours of community service.

The protestors ignored commands to leave the area after officers declared an unlawful assembly, also known as a riot. The University of Mary Washington has stonewalled this news organization in its many attempts to learn the identities of those charged. Humphries failed to include the identities in a lengthy four-page statement about her decision.

Prince William

Suspect, already in jail, faces murder charge after Manassas-area killing

On June 12, detectives charged Tavaris Maleek Eberhardt with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of Carlos Marcell Moore on May 23 near Manassas. Eberhardt, already incarcerated on an unrelated charge, allegedly shot Moore after a verbal altercation and attempted to remove evidence from the scene; firearms were found in a storage unit rented by Eberhardt, though they were not used in the shooting.

‘Rumors’ opens Friday at ARTFactory

ARTfactory’s Rooftop Productions will present Neil Simon’s comedy “Rumors” at the Wind River Theater from June 14 to June 23. The play, directed by Charlynn Mills, features a talented cast and promises a hilarious and lighthearted experience. Performances are scheduled for June 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 7:30 PM and June 16 and 23 at 2:00 PM.

Trooper injured, car mangled in I-495 crash involving alcohol

According to police, the sedan driver refused to cooperate with the trooper’s attempts to move the vehicle to a safer location on the shoulder. During this interaction, a Jeep Cherokee struck a tractor-trailer that had stopped due to the sedan blocking the travel lane. The collision caused the Jeep to spin and hit the trooper’s patrol car, then struck the sedan and the trooper.

The trooper sustained minor injuries and was transported to Fairfax INOVA Hospital for evaluation. The patrol car’s emergency lights were activated during the incident.

Palmer Hayden, born on January 15, 1890, in Widewater, in Stafford County, became a prominent painter during the Harlem Renaissance. His paintings are known for depicting everyday life in African-American communities.

Quantico Security Breach Shocked Everyone: Support Local Journalism to Stay Informed

The Quantico story turned out to be a big one for us. The news that two Jordanian nationals tried to breach security at our region’s largest military installation, home of the FBI Academy and a host of other critical federal installations, came as a shock when not only did it happen — but when base officials voluntarily declined to tell us about it.

We pressed them, and finally, they answered. We’re still on the story, and at a press gaggle, Gov. Glenn Youngkin told us he’s still waiting for answers from the White House about the Quantico incident, which was one of two similar incidents at military bases in Virginia.
