Police found a man suffering multiple stab wounds early this morning.
At 4:32 a.m., officers went to a home in the 13700 block of Greenwood Drive in Dale City to investigate an assault. The 911 caller told police that he went to see his friend and found the front door of his home open.
The first units on the scene reported smoke coming from the front and rear of a single-story, single-family home. Crews entered the house found fire toward the rear of the home.
The fire was brought under control in less than 10 minutes. The two occupants of the residence were not home at the time of the fire.
The exit from Interstate 66 west to Route 28 north and Braddock Road/Walney Road will be relocated about one-half mile east of the old exit Friday, March 11.
The new exit location is just after the I-66 bridge over Stringfellow Road and will be the permanent location for this exit as part of the Transform 66 Outside of the Beltway Project.
[Updated March 7] Prince William County taxpayers are now investors in a new firm that produces materials the size of materials, devices, and structures at dimensions less than 100 nanometers.
On Tuesday, March 1, the Board of County Supervisors gave $50,000 to the George Mason University Nanofabrication facility. The $3 million, 2,350 square foot facility at the Institute for Advanced Biomedical Research building on the university’s Sci-Tech Campus outside Manassas will produce materials for electronic devices, biological sensors, biomedical devices, and optoelectronics.
The Stafford County Public School’s current redistricting plans to move the Park Ridge community out of Park Ridge Elementary is a direct consequence of the poorly planned new development of Embrey Mill. A development that is not even done adding to the load of our districts.
Why should the longstanding, established community of Park Ridge (the obvious namesake of the school) be punished?
Estimating a $14 billion budget surplus over the next three years, Youngkin calls for giving every state resident a $1,500 tax cut during the first year. The Republican, now seven weeks on the job, also called for doubling the standard income tax deduction to $9,000 for single filers, and $18,000 for joint filers.
The governor also said a new gas tax that was to go into effect in July would be suspended for one year. Youngkin also said he is working with leaders in the General Assembly to make good on a campaign promise to eliminate the state’s grocery tax.
Authorities said a Woodbridge man is in jail without bond after making an illegal U-turn and leading police to chase him up Interstate 95.
At 8:51 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, Deputy B.W. Gildea attempted to stop a black Chevy Tahoe from making an illegal U-turn at Warrenton Road and Olde Forge Drive. Instead of stopping, the Tahoe driver drove onto I-95 north.
Crews lift and install bridge beams over the highway for future access points to the I-95 E-ZPass Express Lanes in Stafford County.
A portion of the highway near Route 17 will close for work. A detour will direct drivers to exit I-95 south at Exit 136/Centreport Parkway to Route 1 south, Route 17, and back to I-95 south.
