Republican Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming publicly endorsed Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia on Saturday, saying the former CIA officer is “dedicated to serving this country and her constituents and defending our Constitution.”
The cross-party endorsement, first reported by the Washington Post, came as Spanberger made her closing pitch on the final day of early voting in the swing district before the midterm elections on Tuesday.
Abortion access is anticipated to push voters to the polls in the wake of a Supreme Court decision earlier this year.
Democrats have rallied voters around the issue for months, hoping to drive turnout in an election that will determine the balance of power in Congress. But, the issue has also galvanized Republican voters, according to Jatia Wrighten, a political science assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Manassas-area 7-Eleven store.
On Friday, November 4, at 2:48 a.m., officers were called to a 7-Eleven at 10460 Sudley Manor Drive near Manassas. A man entered the store and walked to the service counter, demanding money from an employee.

Continued reconstruction and paving of the permanent ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South will require closure of the ramp during daytime hours today, Saturday, November 5; Wednesday, November 9; and Thursday, November 10.
The ramp will also be closed for an extended overnight period on Sunday, November 6, beginning at 8 p.m. until noon the following day. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Prince William County Detectives continue to work to identify and locate the suspect or suspects in connection to the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Milton Humberto Escalante Escobar in the 13900 block of Richmond Highway (Route 1) in Woodbridge (22191) on October 27, about 10 p.m.
The victim and others were in a wooded area behind a local business when someone fired a gun, striking the victim. His friends pulled the victim out of the woods to a parking lot, where police found him and provided first aid until rescue personnel arrived.
