The Greater Manassas Christmas Parade is 10 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022.

The two-hour event is one of the largest Christmas parades in the Washington area and is Northern Virginia’s largest. It features floats, balloons, bands, marching units, dance units, community groups, and more.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will return to light the Manassas City Christmas Tree on the lawn of the Manassas Museum.

The event will begin at 5:15 p.m. with musical performances. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive shortly after 6 p.m. after Santa lights the tree, head over for Santa and Mrs. Claus to greet all of the children and listen to their holiday wishes.

Prince William County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is teaming up with American professional soccer player CJ Sapong and his nonprofit organization–Sacred Seeds, along with Black Players for Change, to host a free youth soccer event for middle-school-age children.

Sapong, a Manassas native and Forest Park High School graduate, is currently an American professional soccer player for MLS soccer club Nashville SC. The event will include a motivational talk from Sapong and short competitions (juggling, crossbar challenge, and skills).

As the deputy was knocked down into another lane of travel, the driver accelerated into the rear of a Dodge Ram that had stopped in traffic. She backed up and pulled forward, accelerating over the median into the westbound lanes, police said.

Once the driver cleared the intersection, she returned to the eastbound lanes until she reached the area of the 610 Car Wash, police said. The car crashed, and the driver and a juvenile passenger abandoned the car near the car wash and fled into the woods toward Highpointe Boulevard.

Former Stafford County Supervisor Paul Milde declared his candidacy to represent the House of Delegates District 64, wholly contained within Stafford County, in the Virginia House of Delegates. Milde will seek the Republican nomination.

Leonard Lacy, a chaplain at the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office and former Virginia State Trooper, also announced his campaign and will run as a Democrat.
