[Updated 11 a.m.] All lanes on I-95 southbound near exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) in Stafford County are now open and the detour has been lifted following the crash.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, southbound travelers may experience residual delays on I-95, Route 1 and arterial routes.

The family of the late R. Lee Ermey, the Marine-turned actor known for his role as a drill instructor in Full Metal Jacket, donated more than $10,000 to the Young Marines in Dumfries.

The donation comes from the auction of Ermey’s private collection of guns, scripts, and memorabilia. Ermey, who died April 15, 2018, was the celebrity spokesperson for the Young Marines, lending his name and his staunch support to the youth program.

The School Board seeks two student representatives and an alternate to provide input and insight for the 2022-23 school year. Student representatives are non-voting members and serve for one term concluding with the final School Board meeting of the school year.

Their role focuses on providing input on School Board meeting agenda items on behalf of their fellow students.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed legislation that prohibits a truck modification called the “Carolina Squat,” which elevates the front end of trucks or other vehicles and lowers the back end.

Senate Bill 777, sponsored by Sen. Mark Peake, R-Lynchburg, requires the front bumper be no more than 4 inches higher than the rear bumper. The height differences between front and back bumpers with the Carolina squat modification vary among vehicles.

Three new sheriff’s deputies will hit Stafford County streets this week.

Deputy A.J. Charoenthep, Deputy C.M. Hidalgo, and Deputy S.M. Craig graduated from the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy near Fredericksburg on March 17.
