495 Express Lanes Northern Extension to Open in Late November

“We are pleased to be getting close to opening the new 495 Express Lanes extension,” VDOT Megaprojects Director Michelle Shropshire stated. “This latest addition to Northern Virginia’s existing 94-mile network of connected express lanes will provide new choices for faster and more reliable travel, in an area of the Beltway that consistently faces lengthy backups and travel delays.”

Overnight 95 Express Lanes Closure in Dale City for Bridge Work Preparation

“The southbound-running 95 Express Lanes will be closed between the exit for Dale Boulevard (Route 784) and the exit for Route 234 (Dumfries/Manassas) for Neabsco Creek bridge-related geotechnical work,” the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced. “The left lane will close from 9:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, followed by a full closure from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.”

During the full closure, ramps from Opitz Boulevard (Route 2000) and the southbound I-95 general purpose lanes near mile marker 156.5 will also be closed. Southbound 95 Express Lanes traffic will be detoured to the general purpose lanes via the Dale Boulevard flyover and can re-enter the Express Lanes just past the Telegraph Road overpass in Stafford County.

FAMPO Announces Complete Streets Public Workshops and Regional Survey

“The Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO) will release a regional survey and host three Public Workshops to gather input and inform the public about FAMPO’s Complete Streets Plan,” FAMPO announced. “The survey will give Fredericksburg area residents the opportunity to share their opinions on regional needs and impact the future of bicycle, pedestrian, and public transportation planning.”

“Complete Streets ensure the safe and adequate accommodation of all users of the transportation system, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, children, older individuals, individuals with disabilities, motorists, and freight vehicles,” the organization stated.

Heads Up, Woodbridge: Occoquan Road Closing for Two Weeks Starting Friday

“Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, Occoquan Road (Route 906) between Horner Road (Route 639) and Old Bridge Road (Route 641) will be closed to through traffic for approximately two weeks,” the Virginia Department of Transportation announced. “The closure is required to lower Occoquan Road to maintain future bridge clearance as part of the I-95 and Route 123 interchange improvements project.”

Virginia State Police Investigating Double Fatal Crash on I-95 in Spotsylvania County

“The Virginia State Police is investigating a double fatal crash that occurred this morning at approximately 1:06 a.m. on Interstate 95 southbound near the 126-mile marker in Spotsylvania County,” Virginia State Police announced. “A 2013 Dodge Ram pulling a utility trailer went off of the right side of the interstate, where it struck a stopped tractor trailer. The impact caused the Ram to catch fire.”

“The two occupants of the Ram died at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured,” the agency stated.

Stafford County advances Berea Church Road Improvement Project into Phase 3

“The Berea Church Road Improvement Project is moving into Phase 3,” Stafford County Government announced. “Beginning today, November 3, 2025, Berea Church Road will be fully closed from Berea Knolls Drive and Brimley Drive to Fleet Road.”

County officials added, “The section of road from Truslow Road to Berea Knolls Drive and Brimley Drive that was previously closed is now reopened.”

Motorcyclist killed in Bristow crash during police speed enforcement

A 19-year-old Manassas man died Thursday night after his motorcycle collided with a car at a busy Bristow intersection, Prince William County Police said.

Officers responded just before 8 p.m. on November 1 to the area of Linton Hall Road and Nokesville Road. According to police, an officer was conducting speed enforcement nearby when he saw a 2004 Kawasaki ZX-6R traveling southbound at a high speed on Nokesville Road. As the officer activated his emergency lights, the motorcyclist turned off his headlights and sped off toward Linton Hall Road.

New red light camera warning period begins at busy Manassas intersection

Starting today, November 1, 2025, drivers traveling through the intersection of Liberia Avenue and Mathis Avenue in Manassas will enter a 30-day warning period for a new photo red light enforcement camera.

The city says traffic safety studies have shown this intersection has a high number of violations and crashes, making it a suitable location for red light camera enforcement. Once the warning period ends on December 1, violators caught running red lights will receive a $50 civil penalty, mailed to the vehicle’s registered owner. These fines don’t add points to a driver’s license or affect insurance rates, according to the Manassas City Police Department.

“The southbound-running 95 Express Lanes will be closed between the exit for Dale Boulevard (Route 784) and the exit for Route 234 (Dumfries/Manassas) for Neabsco Creek bridge-related geotechnical work,” the Virginia Department of Transportation announced. “The full closure will take place from 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, to 1 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, weather permitting.”

“During the closure, the Opitz Boulevard ramp and the southbound I-95 general purpose lanes ramp to the southbound 95 Express Lanes will also be closed,” VDOT stated. “Traffic will be diverted to the southbound I-95 general purpose lanes via the flyover ramp providing access to the Dale Boulevard interchange.”
