Alamo draft house Woodbridge.

Makya Little for Delegate: “On Monday, June 19, 2023—also known as Juneteenth—Little’s campaign will host their final pre-primary fundraiser featuring a performance by DeBarge. Working to create opportunities for community members, the campaign has also selected two local bands—TurnUpDeAnte & Co. and Izis la Enderma de la Salsa—to open for DeBarge at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Woodbridge that evening.”

“Eldra “El” Patrick DeBarge—an American singer, songwriter, and musician—was the focal point and primary lead singer of the family group DeBarge [during the 19880s]. Popular songs led by El DeBarge include “Stay with Me,” “All This Love,” and “Rhythm of the Night.”

Tickets for the political fundraiser range between $20 and $5,000. Little is running for the House of Delegates 19th District seat, created in 2021. The seat has no incumbent.

The district includes portions of southern Fairfax County and Woodbridge in Prince William County. The district leans heavily toward Democrats.

Little has two Democrat opponents running against her in a June 20 Primary Election — Rozia Henson and Natalie Shorter.

Work on a $53 million seven-story parking garage has begun in Woodbridge.

The 1,400-space Neabsco Parking Garage will sit between Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center and Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center (Wegman’s grocery store).

Prince William County officials plan a groundbreaking ceremony for the project at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2023. The garage was supposed to be built with a minor-league baseball stadium.

In 2018, the Potomac Nationals baseball team struck a deal with Fredericksburg and moved the team from Prince William to the city.

The county is moving ahead with the project despite losing the team. Operators of the Interstate 95 E-ZPass Express Lanes will build a new ramp from the toll lanes to Opitz Boulevard, making it easier for northbound drivers to exit the highway and park in the garage.

Prince William County Transportation Director Rick Canizales tells us:

The Parking Garage is a Design-Build project. We are currently clearing and grading the site as design is finalized. We started this part earlier this year.

In a Design-Build project you can do phases of a project in parallel, so we will continue to finalize the plans and get needed right-of-way, as we move forward with construction on approved portions of the plan where right-of-way is not needed, such as the area where the actual building will stand.

The project is expected to be fully completed by the Spring/Summer of 2024 (depending on weather).
