Stafford County Fire and Rescue and Fredericksburg Fire Department successfully rescued two kayakers from the Rappahannock River on Friday night, August 9, 2024. Despite strong currents and challenging conditions, both kayakers were safely brought to shore without injury. A Stafford County fire and rescue spokeswoman said the two were both adult women.

At 3:20 p.m., a black pickup truck flipped over the guardrail on Interstate 95 South at milepost 143, near Garrisonville Road in Stafford County.
Fire and rescue personnel are on the scene. The incident currently affects drivers headed toward the exit from Interstate 95 to Garrisonville Road west.
Just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, Stafford County fire crews responded to a structure fire in the rural area of Decatur Road in Widewater. Crews controlled the blaze despite water supply challenges. Two occupants inside the home made it out safely.

Just after 4 A.M. on Saturday, June 15th, units with Stafford County Fire and Rescue (SCFR) were dispatched for a reported structure fire along Melanie Hollow Lane in the southeastern part of Stafford County. Multiple callers reported a home on fire, and crews arrived within five minutes and found a two-story, single family home with fire showing throughout the second floor. The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes. The home was occupied by seven individuals at the time of the fire. All were able to evacuate prior to the arrival of units on scene. They were evaluated; one was transported for non-life-threatening injuries.
Fire and rescue crews are on the scene of a brush fire on Interstate 95 near Quantico.
As you can see from the photos above, taken from VDOT cameras, smoke is billowing from the forested areas on the southbound side of the highway, near milepost 148, Quantico Marine Corps Base’s back gate.
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, a wind-driven brush fire quickly spread and burned three vehicles and two sheds in the Lake Arrowhead neighborhood.
Stafford fire and rescue: Our units responded to a brush fire along Maple Lane yesterday at approximately 1130 hours. Units found about a half acre on fire, with two small sheds and three non-functioning vehicles on fire. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes. The fire was not exclusively wind-driven, but several factors including low humidity and dry fuels contributed to the spread. The homeowner was advised of the burn laws.
