The Prince William County Police Department is expressing gratitude to the community after another successful Polar Plunge event, which raised $130,000 for Special Olympics Virginia.

The event, held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Leesylvania State Park, saw strong participation from local residents, law enforcement personnel, and sponsors. Funds raised during the Polar Plunge will support Special Olympics Virginia, providing athletes with opportunities to compete and receive essential services.

The Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy Basic Law Enforcement 57th Session graduated on June 21, 2024, at Gainesville High School.

Prince William County Police Department: The class consisted of nine Prince William County Police officers and two Prince William County Sheriff’s deputies. They completed a 24-week training course covering firearms, use-of-force decision-making, driver training, legal training, patrol techniques, criminal investigation, and crash investigation.

Prince William County Government: “The Swearing-In Ceremony for the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, the Clerk to the Circuit Court, the Commonwealth’s Attorney, and the Sheriff will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Merchant Hall at the Hylton Performing Arts Centers, 10960 George Mason Circle in Manassas. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and stay for the reception immediately following.”

“Those unable to attend can watch the ceremony live on the county’s YouTube channel.”

Prince William County Public Libraries: “Prince William County Sheriff’s Office will produce a plastic ID card with your child’s photo and measurements. This card could be the key to assisting law enforcement agencies if a child ever goes missing.”

“Producing the card offers children a fun and positive experience interacting with law enforcement officers. The Sheriff’s Office does not retain the information to protect the family’s privacy.”

Prince William County Sheriff: “Prince William County Sheriff Glendell Hill is pleased to announce the awarding of $500 and $1,000 scholarships to six local college students on Friday, June 9, 2023. The scholarship presentation was held in the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office Conference Room.”

“The scholarship recipients, among their family members, were recognized for their academic achievements and commitment to pursuing a college education in the criminal justice field. During the presentation, Sheriff Hill spoke to the students on the importance of staying grounded. He stated, “don’t let peer pressure cause you to make bad decisions because it will affect your future career in criminal justice negatively.” He also commended the students for wanting to pursue a career in law enforcement.”
