Prince William County Police are addressing how they’re combating fentanyl dangers county-wide days after a teenage boy in Manassas died from a suspected fentanyl overdose.

If confirmed, this would be the third fentanyl-related death in Prince William County in recent weeks.

As Prince William County Public Schools get closer to passing a collective bargaining agreement, it’s clear how much it will cost taxpayers to allow teachers to wrangle over pay.

“It’s entirely reasonable to expect it will be seven figures,” said school division attorney Wade T. Anderson. Gainesville District School Board member Jennifer Wall pressed him for a a firm estimate, but he couldn’t provide it.

On October 7, the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Rippon Middle School, at 15101 Blackburn Road in Woodbridge, concluded an investigation into an assault that occurred in a classroom on September 22.

The investigation revealed during class, a male student made a homophobic slur towards the victim, another 13-year-old male student, before riping and removing the child’s facemask.

Freedom-Woodbridge’s point total in Friday’s 112-16 win over visiting Colgan ranks fifth all-time in state history and is the most points ever scored by a Prince William County high school program, according to the Virginia High School League record book.

With Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s administration looking to tighten accreditation standards for the state’s public schools, 98 of 107 schools in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park met full state accreditation requirements for the 2022-23 school year.

The Potomac Shores Middle School library is named for Hilda Barg, a longtime elected official from Woodbridge.

Residents and elected officials gathered at the school, 17851 Woods View Drive near Dumfries, for a dedication ceremony on October 6. About 100 poeple attended.

Updated Noon — Photos taken by a pilot of a helicopter used by Washington D.C.’s WRC-TV show hundreds walked out of schools today in Prince William County.

The photos show students at Colgan and Hylton high schools near Woodbridge participating in a walkout scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 27. The students were there to protest new guidelines from the Virginia Department of Education, which Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) says all public schools should follow, that shift control of transgender issues back to parents.

Students at Colgan High School are urged to walk out of classes supporting queer rights.

A flier circulating the school and online promotes a rally at 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, outside the school at 13833 Dumfries Road in Prince William County. Students are encouraged to wear bright colors of the rainbow and protest a recent decision by the Virginia Department of Education, which shifts control of transgender issues back to parents.
