“Due to the current temperatures and icy conditions, enforcement of the City’s sidewalk snow-removal ordinance is temporarily suspended,” the City of Manassas announced. “Residents are still encouraged to help neighbors when possible and to do what they can to improve safety, including clearing walkways or spreading salt or sand in areas where ice cannot be safely removed.”

City officials said residents who need help clearing sidewalks can call 571-292-5316. The city partners with Volunteer Prince William through an assisted snow-shoveling program aimed at helping high-risk residents unable to clear sidewalks on their own. Additional snow-removal resources are available on the city’s website.

Jill Spall elected Manassas School Board Chair at annual meeting

The School Board of the City of Manassas began the new year by electing Jill Spall as its new chair during its annual organizational meeting on January 5, 2026. Spall, who previously served as vice chair, takes over leadership of the board and says she’s focused on continuity and keeping students at the center of decision-making.

Dr. Zella Jones was elected vice chair, stepping into the role as the board looks ahead to another year of guiding Manassas City Public Schools. The board also approved several routine appointments, including continuing Alba Garza as Clerk and Maureen Wilcoski as Deputy Clerk.

Get Ready to Laugh—’Lend Me a Soprano’ Comes to Manassas This June

MANASSAS, Va. – Actors Theatre at the ARTfactory is bringing high-energy comedy to the stage this summer with Lend Me a Soprano, a fast-paced farce by acclaimed playwright Ken Ludwig. The show runs from June 13 to 22 at the Wind River Theatre in downtown Manassas.

This gender-swapped take on Tony Ludwig’s Lend Me a Tenor, directed by Vince Worthington, is set in 1934 at the fictional Cleveland Grand Opera Company. Audiences can expect a night full of backstage mayhem as the characters scramble to save a performance of Carmen when their star soprano arrives late, a jealous husband crashes the scene, and a young assistant must think on her feet to prevent a disaster.

Manassas Says Thanks: 15 Volunteers Honored for Making the City Shine

MANASSAS, Va. – Fifteen residents were named Outstanding Volunteers by the City of Manassas during a recognition dinner and reception held Tuesday, April 29, at the Hylton Center for the Performing Arts. One award was given posthumously. The honorees were chosen from among more than 450 individuals who regularly give their time to support the city.

According to a city press release, these volunteers were celebrated for their work across historic preservation, emergency response, civic boards, and community outreach. From guiding museum tours to running community holiday events and supporting zoning appeals, each has made a lasting mark on the city.
