“Help feed a local family of four impacted by the government shutdown by dropping off items on the list 24/7 in the drop box in the church’s foyer,” Stafford Seventh-day Adventist Church announced.

The church is hosting a Food Pantry Pop-up on Thursday, October 30, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at 550 Joshua Rd., Stafford, VA 22556. Participants can drive through the parking lot to receive food packages. The list of needed food items is available here.

“Stafford offices, departments, facilities, and all courts will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, for Veterans Day,” Stafford County announced. “Both locations of the R-Board/Regional Landfill (Eskimo Hill and Belman Road) will be open on Veterans Day.”

The County confirmed that Fire and Rescue, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Magistrate’s Office will remain operational, along with all outdoor parks, which will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Essential services such as emergency response and law enforcement will continue uninterrupted during the holiday.

“Happy 50th, Gari Melchers Home and Studio! This past Sunday, October 19th, the home officially celebrated 50 years of being open to the public,” Tour Stafford Virginia shared. “We have Corinne Melchers (last photo) to thank for being able to utilize this incredible estate, creating a space for generations to enjoy art, history, and inspiration.”

The Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont in Falmouth, once the residence of American Impressionist painter Gari Melchers and his wife Corinne, opened to the public in 1975. Today, it operates as a museum and cultural site managed by the University of Mary Washington, preserving Melchers’ art and legacy while hosting exhibitions, educational programs, and community events.

“Stafford County, with the Board of Supervisors’ support, has made improving transportation for residents a top priority,” the County Government announced. “This year, the County is investing $70 million in road improvement projects across the community to enhance roadway safety, improve accessibility, and reduce congestion.”

“To the George Washington District, over the next few weeks, you may hear half-truths or see social media posts from people unwilling to learn or understand how local government works,” Supervisor Deuntay Diggs of the George Washington District wrote. “Stafford County now has the strictest data center standards in Virginia—yet for some, that’s still not enough.”

Diggs defended the Board of Supervisors’ recent handling of a contentious meeting, saying that the agenda change was made “to accommodate an attorney whose wife had recently undergone surgery,” not to silence public comment. “The FOIA request submitted will confirm these facts—but it will likely never see the light of day, because there is simply no there there,” he added.

“Bridge washing will require alternating lane closures along I-95 northbound and southbound between Exit 110 (Ladysmith) and Exit 118 (Thornburg),” Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced. “Work is scheduled Sunday through Saturday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., at the bridge over the Matta River.”

“Additional bridge washing will take place between Exit 130 (Route 3) and Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton), with alternating lane closures in both local and through lanes at the I-95 bridges over the Rappahannock River,” VDOT stated.

“The Stafford County Board of Supervisors adopted an Emergency Ordinance, EO25-01, on October 21, 2025, to extend zero penalties and interest through December 20, 2025, on personal property tax,” Stafford County Government announced. “This effort was prompted by the financial uncertainty surrounding the delayed adoption of the federal budget and its potential impact on the residents of Stafford County.”
