At 11 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2023, the Potomac Region Veterans Council partnered with Quantico National Cemetery and Quantico Marine Corps Base for its annual Memorial Day Ceremony.
RPV Chair Rich Anderson: “I moderated the ceremony with about 500 attendees. The featured speaker was Army Brig. Gen. James W. Ring, Assistant Adjutant General of Virginia who will become Adjutant General next Saturday and be promoted to major general (two stars).”

Quantico: “Marine Corps Base Quantico is partnering with Prince William County to conduct a full-scale exercise on the base on May 25 that will simulate a train derailment on main side. The exercise, which is expected to be the largest conducted here in more than a decade, will test the ability of the base and Prince William County to react and work together in a multi-faceted emergency that affects the base and local community.”

National Foster Care Month and the Marine Toys for Tots Program is expanding their support beyond the holiday season to deliver gifts to children living in Foster Care.
The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation announces the first classic car show at the National Museum of the Marine Corps on Sunday, May 7.
The event is free and open to the public, and all classic car enthusiasts are encouraged to come out to see their favorite cars. The car show will conclude with a free outdoor performance by the Navy’s premier jazz ensemble, the U.S. Navy Band Commodores, who have performed across America for over 50 years.

The high temperature on Wednesday climbed to 67 degrees. The day began with sunny skies, and then clouds rolled in at about 1 p.m. Rain began to fall at about 3 p.m.
Updated 3:30 p.m. — It appears the sound of a car backfiring caused Quantico Marine Corps authorities to place the military installation into lockdown today.
The lockdown issued at about 1 p.m. was lifted just before 3 p.m.
Booth pricing ranges between $3,700 and $7,000.
Vendors will have access to the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center starting on Thursday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for set up. Arrangements to move in on Wednesday, October 25, can also be made by appointment only.
