The Prince William County Department of Transportation will hold a virtual information session on the Route 28 Bypass Project. During this Transportation Tuesday session today at noon, officials will provide updates on the Route 28 Bypass Project and the progress of Fairfax County’s ongoing Route 28 Widening Project.

In Prince William County, crews are working to build a $300 million, four-lane bypass that will allow drivers to avoid using Route 28 through Manassas. The new road will extend Godwin Drive from Sudley Road at UVA Prince William Medical Center east to Route 28 at the Fairfax County line.


A fire broke out at Grace Jewelers tonight, an independent jewelry store at 14059 Promenade Commons Street in Gainesville.

A fire alarm sounded at about 7:40 p.m., signaling all inside to get out of the shop. No one was injured.


On Sunday, May 15, at 2:32 a.m., police were called to the 2700 block of Neabsco Common Place, across from Freedom High School in Woodbridge, to investigate a robbery of a deliveryman.

The 45-year-old male victim told police that he was delivering an order to an apartment when he was approached by an unknown man who told the victim to make the delivery on the side of the building.


On Sunday, May 15, at 4:06 p.m., officers went to the Woodbridge Station Apartments in the 13600 block of Mary’s Way in Woodbridge after someone reported seeing a bullet hole in their ceiling.

A resident of an apartment reported to police that a bullet hole was discovered in his ceiling, appearing to have come from the above apartment. A bullet fragment was also found on the resident’s floor.


The American Life & Liberty (ALL PAC) will host a forum at Unity Braxton Middle School on Tuesday, May 17, from 5:30 to 8:45 p.m.

Eleven Republicans seeking the nomination for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District will attend the forum. Each will have time to introduce themselves and take voter questions submitted by audience members.


The REALTOR Association of Prince William is providing us with the latest snapshot of housing sales in the county

A total of 761 homes were sold in April 2022, a decrease of 8.9% compared to April 2021 at 835. New listings showed a decrease in percentage year-over-year, with 1042 new listings, as opposed to 1279 in April 2021.


During an extensive county police investigation, authorities identified a suspected distributor operating in the Woodbridge area in conjunction with the DEA and FBI.

On May 11, the police department, DEA, and ATF executed a search warrant at the distributor’s home on Palm Road in Dale City. A suspect was arrested without incident during the raid.

The renaming ceremony was delayed due to COVID-19. In June 2020, the Prince William County School Board approved a resolution to rename Stonewall Jackson Middle School to Unity Braxton Middle School. Unity Braxton honors the legacies of Carroll and Celestine Braxton. Carroll Braxton served as Master Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps and is a Congressional Gold Medal recipient. Celestine S. Braxton was as an educator with Prince William County Public Schools for 33 years.

Principal Mike Nicely hosted the renaming ceremony in the school’s auditorium.


Prince William County launched a scholarship program for its summer camp.

The Count Me In scholarship Program is provided by the Prince William County Parks Foundation and Prince William County Parks, Recreation & Tourism. Scholarships are available to eligible families who reside in Prince William County.
