The imminent approval of Devlin Technology Park, a site formerly planned for housing that morphed into yet another power-sucking eyesore, will bring the total capacity of data centers operating or planned in Prince William County to nearly 50 million square feet.
That doubles the current capacity of neighboring Loudoun county, and exceeds the 48 million a recent study projected to be the maximum demand for the next twenty years.
The sheriff’s office protects the county courthouse in Manassas and serves court orders. The police department, commonly seen in Carolina-blue colored vehicles, responds to 911 calls — everything from car crashes and shootings to helping stranded drivers with flat tires.

Lateef will serve as the Board’s chairman of the Board overseeing operations at UVA Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, UVA Haymarket Medical Center, outpatient clinics in our area, as well as other large UVA medical centers, UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, and the School of Medicine and Nursing.

Updated Tuesday, August 23, 2 p.m. — Police found a 28-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds.
Here’s the latest on the stabbing and three other incidents Prince William police reported on Monday, August 22.
Stabbing Investigation – On August 20 at 12:55AM, officers responded to Brixx Wood Fired Pizza located at 14900 Potomac Town Pl. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a stabbing. Upon arriving at the restaurant, officers located a 26-year-old man sitting outside with multiple stab wounds. Officers provided immediate first aid to the man until rescue personnel arrived and transported him to an area hospital where his injuries were determined to be non-life threatening. The investigation revealed a group of individuals, including the injured man, were inside the restaurant when a verbal altercation escalated into a physical altercation. During the encounter, one of the members of the group stabbed the man before the parties separated. There is no suspect description at this time.

Prince William County School Board Chairman At-large Dr. Babur Lateef deleted a post to a Twitter account he uses to communicate with constituents. In the Tweet, he encouraged people to “never forget” and to “never forgive” politicians, press, and public health officials for, in his words, providing misinformation that led to an extended closure of public schools during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The improvements … are pretty dramatic,” Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta Jr. said at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony. “This has a lot of advantages for us both in terms of the way it directs traffic as well as the safety for pedestrians.”
Prince William County, the town, and the Virginia Department of Transportation, or VDOT, collaborated on the project along Mill Street between Washington and Ellicott streets. Updates to the area will improve pedestrian safety, accessibility and connectivity. The project included five crosswalks and nine ramps with detectable warning domes that comply with the American with Disabilities Act.
About 90,000 students will return to classes across the county. Except for the youngest children in the county’s Head Start program, who must continue to wear face masks, the start of the school year will feel more like pre-pandemic times.
No facemask or social distancing requirements are in place, and the school division won’t conduct contract tracing to identify who’s contracted the coronavirus.
