Bob Weir announced his intent to run for the vacant Prince William Board of County Supervisors Gainesville District seat.  Supervisor Peter Candland announced his resignation from the seat effective Friday, December 16.

Weir just won a seat on the Haymarket Town Council, where he has served five terms. He’s also served five terms on the Haymarket Planning Commission and has a proven track record and reputation for achieving results for the residents of Haymarket and the Gainesville District.


A woman wanted in connection to the death of an infant who overdosed on Fentanyl turned herseflt into police.

On December 13, police arrested Tiffany Nicole Stokes on charges of felony homicide and felony child neglect in connection to the death of her young child that was reported to have occurred at an apartment located in the 14700 block of Soapstone Drive in Gainesville on June 23, was arrested.


On December 14, the suspect sought in connection to the robbery that occurred at the Apple Federal Credit Union at 14229 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridgeon June 8, was arrested. The accused

Stacy Lee Scott, 54, of no fixed address, was located in Woodbridge and taken into custody, she’s charged with robbery. Her court date is pending. The police did not release her bond status.


Delegate Elizabeth Guzman announced her candidacy for State Senate in the new Senate District 29, which contains all of the Prince William County precincts she currently represents in the House of Delegates.

District 29 also now contains a portion of northern Stafford County. Jeremy McPike has held the seat since 2016.


Today at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, This afternoon, units were dispatched to the 8000 blk of Leland Road (Yorkshire). Crews arrived with fire showing from the rear of a two-story single-family dwelling.

Fire crews initiated an attack to stop the rapidly spreading blaze. At one point, crews were forced to change tactics due to the amount of fire.


A Dumfries-area man faces charges after a fight outside the Potomac Shores neighborhood clubhouse.

On Sunday, December 10 at 10:45 p.m, officers responded to the Potomac Shores Recreational Center located at 1801 Potomac Shores Pkwy near Dumfries to investigate a fight. Upon arriving at the location, officers located a 59-year-old man, suffering from injuries to his face.


Prince William County residents asked the U.S. Department of Interior to step in to block the Board of County Supervisors from approving its 2040 comprehensive land-use plan.

The vote is tomorrow, Tuesday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m.

The document’s five chapters will guide the development of housing, roads, transit, water, sewer, and electricity for the next 20 years.


Candland’s final meeting will be Tuesday, December 13, when supervisors are set to vote on the 2040 Comprehensive [land-use] Plan, a document that guides the development of roads, housing, utilities, and just about everything else in the growing 348-square mile jurisdiction.

Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, is hosting its 2022 Rocking Around the Boardwalk event featuring a Holiday Walk of Lights and Unique Holiday Tree Display.

Visitors can now walk down a magical path to enjoy handcrafted light displays, and beginning this Saturday, December 10, also view the Unique Holiday Tree Display, Fridays – Sundays, through December 30. Lights not on display December 23-25
