Cortland Lawson hit a go-ahead home run in the 7th inning and drove in four runs, and the FredNats beat the Delmarva Shorebirds for a 12th straight time on Thursday night by a final of 11-9.

The FredNats scored four runs in the 2nd inning on RBI singles from Jared McKenzie and Jacob Young, and a two-run single by Lawson. Delmarva scored three in the 3rd and five in the 5th to take an 8-6 lead after a two-run single by Will Frizzell in the 4th inning.

The fourth and final in a series of town hall meetings on the Stafford County Public Schools Capital Improvement needs is Thursday, September 8 at 7 p.m.

School Board members Patricia Healy (Rockhill) and Maureen Siegmund (Garrisonville) will host the discussion at North Stafford High School, 839 Garrisonville Road in North Stafford.

A car slammed into a Stafford County Sheriff’s Deputy’s patrol car.

On Wednesday, August 31at 8:55 p.m. Deputy E.R. Houde was in his marked patrol vehicle stopped at a red traffic signal on southbound U.S. 1 at Aquia Park Shopping Center on Route 1 with a red Hyundai Elantra stopped behind him.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed an Executive Directive today at Colonial Forge High School in Stafford County, cutting administrative red tape for schools trying to fill a glut of vacant teaching positions.

Youngkin’s order will make it easier to get teachers in classrooms, allowing them to work with obtaining their licenses while upholding educational standards. The order also makes it easier for retired teachers who want to return to the classroom, educators who recently moved to Virginia, and those switching careers to begin teaching to ease the state’s teacher shortage.

The future of local bus service in some areas of Manassas and Manassas Park won’t be riding on a bus.

OmniRide will purchase four minivans to operate the micro-transit service in Manassas and Manassas Park. OmniRide will use vans to provide a “flexible” transit service similar to Lyft or Uber that will allow riders to book a ride through their phone or by calling OmniRide’s Customer Service office.
