It’s been 13 years since Stafford Hospital opened its doors, the first large-scale medical facility for the growing county of more than 157,000 poeple.
The hospital is a 100-bed, Joint Commission-accredited hospital part of Mary Washington Healthcare, which operates Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, and a network of urgent care centers in the region.
Virginians will once again be able to get their liquor by 10 a.m.
ABC stores across the state will revert to their regular hours following a recent adjustment a month ago due to rising coronavirus case numbers. Many stores pushed back their opening time two hours to noon.
A Community Vaccination Center in Central Park will close on March 5, the Rappahannock Area Health District reports. The days and hours the center will be open during its final week will be Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Central Park center has administered more than 36,000 free coronavirus vaccines since it opened in early October 2021. As more people have become vaccinated and the vaccines have become widely available at doctor’s offices and pharmacies, demand has decreased, states the health district.
Upgrades to fareboxes in Washington, D.C.’s Metro system will lead to some older fare cards deactivating.
Today, Metro reminded riders that anyone using a SmarTrip card purchased before 2012 would not work after March 1, 2022.
The city fire department identified concrete medians in the middle of Golf and Rosebud courts as being impediments. The department first brought this to the Governing Body’s attention on September 7, 2021.
According to the department, the issue was compounded due to residents parking within the cul-de-sacs narrowing the roadway restricting impending fire and rescue department vehicle access. Many fire trucks got stuck due to parked cars and the islands.
[Updated 1:15 p.m ] Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin recognized two fire departments in our region that went above and beyond to help someone in need.
On Wednesday, February 23, Youngkin announced the 2021 Governor’s Fire Service Awards as part of the annual Virginia Fire Chiefs Association and Rescue Conference in Virginia Beach.
A total of 185 people plunged into the Potomac River during the event, while 400 others looked on.
The Prince William County Police Department coordinated the event, which marked the return of the Polar Plunge for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
