A longtime county employee will come out of retirement to lead the Stafford County Government.

Stafford County Board of Supervisors appointed Michael T. Smith as Interim County Administrator on April 5, 2022. His appointment is effective April 20, 2022. This decision comes after the resignation of County Administrator Frederick Presley, who will serve in a consultation role between Smith's appointment and the effective date of his resignation, April 22, 2022.

The Lake Ridge branch of the Prince William County Public Library isn't going anywhere.

On Tuesday, April 5, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors renewed the library branch's lease at the Tackett's Mill shopping center at the corner of Old Bridge and Minnieville roads.

A stolen gun was recovered this past weekend after an intoxicated suspect fired a round through his home.

On Friday, April 1, at 9:55 p.m., Deputy A.G. Booth went to a report of a shooting inside a residence in the 300 block of Warrenton Road. The initial information indicated an intoxicated man was cleaning a gun that discharged, sending a round through a bed and floor into the room
below.

Dominion Energy asked about a proposed landfill at Possum Point, near Dumfries, that would store toxic coal ash during a community meeting on April 4, 2022.

Several residents who would be affected by a proposed coal ash landfill came to Potomac Shores Middle School filled with questions.

Dominion Energy proposes building a $347 million landfill to store coal ash at the bottom of water ponds at the Possum Point Power Station on the Potomac River near Dumfries.

Overlooking Fredericksburg, the Chatham Bridge, and the Rappahannock River.

Today, Stafford County officials are expected to provide the details of a regional partnership that would work to put large commercial building sites on the market.

During its Community and Economic Development Committee Meeting at noon, members will hear about a plan to create a Regional Industrial Facilities Authority (RIFA). According to county documents, the participating RIFA jurisdictions are Stafford and King George counties and Fredericksburg.
